Thatās true. We have reached 39 people in 9 countries. This is not an effort made just by me, it has required the involvement of the COMMUNITY.
And the community I am talking about goes from the yo-yo maker to the person who ends up throwing the yo-yo.

I know there is a lot of evil in the big āevilā corporations. I just hate that for some, anyone trying to make money running a business is somehow evil, immoral, or greedy simply because they want to make money with their business.
We donāt usually consider someone evil for wanting to make money doing a job in the employ of a business. I understand the defense that most yoyo companies are small and not making much money. However, I donāt think it should matter if the majority of them were making good money.
Owning and running a business is hard! There needs to be motivation and reward, and there should be a reward. A business can be profitable, provide a livelihood for its owners, provide a valuable service, and provide livelihoods to its employees. As the risk-taker, and intellectual property provider, the owner should be compensated accordingly.
That brings me to my need as a business owner. I need $3000 dollars to fix one of my AC units!

Thanks. Yeah, I have three units that were all new with the renovation I did when I opened in 2018. One of the compressors went out last year. The compressor was covered under warranty, but I had to cover the labor and coolant to the tune of $2500.
Now another compressor has gone out! Same deal and probably similar cost. I thought with new units, this wouldnāt be something Iād have to worry about. I can tell you Iām pretty worried about it now!
I think Iāll call Lennox and see if I can get some answers.

When it comes to AC units Iāve discovered that they are all the same except for Trane. Too late to help you now unfortunately, but in the future just buy a cheap unit that can be cheaply replaced. Parts for name brand units can be as expensive as the entire system I had installed. I paid 5K for AC and heat unit, fans, ducts, vents, wiring AND installation for my entire house. Worked perfect so far and if compressor goes out itāll be around 1200$ to replace. Sorry to put salt in your wound, but maybe this info will help another. Good luck @Myk_Myk!

Yesterday I was standing outside my front door throwing and my neighbor and her son came outside and said how he loves to watch me throw and do tricks with yoyos and that he wanted to learn how to do thatā¦ So I handed him a cheap plastic throw to give it a try. Sadly he lost interest fairly quick, but then his little sister came out and asked me could she try too. So I gave her the throw and cut the string to fit her size, within 5 mins she had figured out how to throw it pretty good. So for the next hour or 2 I helped her work on her technique and she started picking it up quick to where when we were done she was able to throw a good sleeper and get it back to her hand clean. I told her keep the yoyo I let her try and keep practicing what I showed her and that next time they came out Iād show her a new trick. So early this morning they came out to go somewhere and she ran right over to me talking about her progress and her mom told me how much she liked it so I ran in my house and grabbed a brand new green Loop 2020 with pink caps on it and handed it to her, she started jumping up and down because it had pink caps and I told her this is a good yoyo to keep practicing and each time she comes out to play I will teach her more stuff. It was really cool to see her reaction to getting a new yoyo with pink on it. Iām stoked that I was able to help a kid get into this hobby and to bring her the joy that I get out of throwing and learning new tricks!

I have a tiny bit of experience with teaching kids to yo-yo. The best way to start is by getting a few kids you personally know. It is much easier that way. Then, in my experience, the word of mouth advertising will go around, and then it gets easier from there. I have only been doing something like that for about a month, but a lot of people have wanted to come learn.

Thanks for the advice, but understand this is a 7.5-ton unit, and the other was a 10-ton unit, so thereās really no such thing as a ācheapā option for me! Your compressor may be $1200, but the coolant alone for mine is over $2000.
FWIW, I shopped around for rates, and the company I ended up with was $20,000 less than everyone else. So, my ācheapā option was $40k instead of $60k. So, maybe this is actually the opposite of your advice, and has become a āpay now or pay laterā scenario? As for the brand, I never even considered that. It was strictly, āPlease help me salvage this venture with the best price I can get!ā
Sorry if I got off topic a bit, but this indicates the kinds of expense burdens small businesses must endure. Many people are totally oblivious to these expenses as they are deriding a company for what they charge for their services.
Back on topic, let me toot my own horn a bit to say that I do use my business resources to promote the āState of Yoā.

of my friends and i have banded together as an offshoot of our original group to form a yoyo company, a yoyo team, and a platform they can join together and represent each other under a unified Team. weāre not the best, but weāre doing it for each other, and we all want to be a part of something positive, and thatās why we do it.
iām not netting positive (donāt tell my wife), but i think our group together does a lot of good bringing parts of the community togetherā¦ @AKYOYOMIKE anything to add?

Iām always trying to spread the art of yo! Throwing has helped me numerous times through diffrent phases of my adult life, i canāt imagine how great it would have been to start as a kid. Iāve started clubs a few times, Iāve given countless yoyos away in the hopes of sparking interest and or bringing back throwers who have āoutgrown this toyā. Itās an honor to be part of a budding company, and a pleasure to work with the guys on the FTY team.
From my experience the overwhelming majority of this community is selfless in nature, and overly generous with thier time and knowledge regardless of thier budget.
