Really good article. If you’re here reading this, you’ll probably enjoy it.
RIP Mike and TheYo.
I would write an ode to this forum. But only this one. The times I needed something from a forum and had the most veille of human interaction is countless. The showboatery of people is concentrated in forums, like lemmons inside the juice-press.
But here. Fantastic. What a good piece of human kindness. I like you peeps very much. I like to hear from you. I like to learn from you. I like to argue with you. I like stress you out, with my stupid topics and jokes. You handle it very nicely. Thank you.
Thanks Mikey for posting this. It really sums up what I have come to love about this forum. In these forums you really talk to people and people really listen and respond. Most of what I see today operates much more like a competition where everyone is competing to be considered cool by the crowd that they have chosen to identify with. There is very little sincerity and posts are made with the intention of scoring points rather than being genuine and considerate. I personally find it all a very pathetic way to live and this forum is literally the only “social media” I participate in. I don’t consider myself above any others, I have always been averse to conformity. People called me weird and I said I prefer the term “uniquely individual”. But I do find it odd that people tend to define their own individuality these days by doing everything possible to fit into whatever societal mold they have chosen to identify with. Coming out of that mold in the same cookie shape as every other that comes from that mold. Being nearly indistinguishable from all the others… you call yourself unique. It really shines a spotlight on how misinformed and uneducated the masses have become. I will close with a very true statement made by a local school board member in my hometown as they were discussing banning phones in school. “When you give your child a smart device, you are not giving them access to the world… you are giving the world access to your child”
I appreciate everyone on this forum young and old because part of what makes you all cool is your unique individuality. Be yourselves and stand firm against the mold that is trying to crush who you are and make you into the same cookie as the rest.
Good words. Like you Steve!
Love over everything!
Yep this board is my only remaining social media. Finally off reddit and good riddance. It’s a husk.
Anyone who I know in real life that I actually want to contact already has either my phone or my email. The internet has changed a lot and I’m starting to get sick of a lot of it.
Great read. I have been a member of a lot of these types of forums since the early 2000s. I thought something like Reddit would be a nice way to consolidate my interests, but the endless scroll and clickbait of other subreddits just causes me to waste time reading nonsense.
I have also been on some forums that eventually go off the rails with gate-keeping and negativity, but this community has been such a welcoming and cooperative place in general.

I think some of you know who you are!
What kind of nerds are you talking about?
