Odd YYF strings

Hi

I encountered a weird thing when ordering YYF string from my local shop.

Two years before, I ordered a 10pack of neon pink, 100% polyester, YYF strings to feel them out and see if they do what I wanted. After my two year break from yoyo I come back, get a better yoyo and play again. So I use up the few remaining strings from that 10pack and order the same neon pink, 100% polyester, YYF string from the same shop, but this time, as I am deeper committed to this hobby, I get a 100pack.

They arrive and the paper bag they are packed in, looks the same, just bigger. The color that shines through the bag looks familiar. So I put them on the shelf for when the last of the 10pack strings would be finished.

Today was the day. Removed the last spent 10pack string from my yo, opened the 100pack to pick the next and as I picked one out of the braid, I immediately see the difference. The 100pack strings are way lighter in color, than the deep hot pink, 10pack strings, even lighter in color than a spent 10pack strings. Combined to a braid they looked the same, but a single one looks off. The 100pack ones are also thicker, have bigger loops, with a looser knot and a rough cut end, a more coarse braid and a way shinier surface. They are softer too.

Obviously they are not the same make, even though they should be.

I played a session with the new 100pack string and they seemed to be fine. Different, but okay.

So I do not complain about it. I am just once more confused about a yoyo-thing (a daily occurrence, as it seems). What have I missed? Is this normal? Have YYF strings changed? Is this just a noob-thing?

I would love to here your insights on this, even if this is just a small thing.

Edit: If for some reason, a more experienced swiss yoyo-player finds this, could you please tell me your source for yoyo stuff in switzerland?
