Northstar cap cracks -_-

My beloved Northstar haha, still an amazingly good playing yoyo. To me, the Northstar is everything about the early plastic yoyo game for yoyofactory. I was wondering who else had this issue with the caps, i mean this was obviously 10 years ago now but it still pains me every time i see it (i dont use this throw really anymore), i remember it like it was yesterday when i replaced the response pads put it back together and bam cracked the caps on both sides… design flaw?
