Paint thinner. Drop a bit in the recess, leave it for an hour, the snot will soak it up and detach from the metal. Just don’t put any up your nose, it’s toxic 
Does that work for plastic too or no? Because my biggest problem with this is with my Northstar… Maybe I should have said that earlier…
I"ve never tried it on plastic, so I can’t comment. My deck is being redone or I’d go test one of my broken plastics for you.
