Quick 1 beer mod on a quicksilver crown. Solid crowns make little sense so me, you can’t easily balance the top, and you can’t store your string in it. So anyways I got this new quicksilver and I had an old plastic trompo grande so I felt safe to save the original crown (in case Mark asks) and swap it.
Not the cleanest cut but I can touch it up later.
Spin tops are coming back, mod your tops.

did the same mod. i kind of like it more with a solid cap because its a little heavier

The piece of cap removed weighs a little under 2.5 g. More than I would have guessed, but I do like the advantages of having it open.

I did this a few years back to a short circuit. Cut top, weight ring and a satin finish. Plays great.

trompo cometa turbo iron silver
converted from bearing to fixed tip by shimming the bearing mechanism with o rings and the screw on crown is held in place with loctite because its prone to unscrewing.
