Mk1 Yoyos & Lord of the Rings

Yes Butterfly XT has normal bearing

Yeah, but its so dirty and filled with lube that it would make it responsive. Thats what i did with my peak to enter the old school trick challenge

Haha, fair. I haven’t really messed around with heavily lubed wide bearings before, I’ll have to give it a shot.

i won’t either a mono comp or an organic bimetal

@MarkD you should totally make a metal responsive.

I have a couple design drafts, one of them is really weird, one of them isn’t. Neither looks like the Diffraction though. Got other stuff in the works first, including finishing the converge. Production on them should be done soon, and I just shipped off a bunch of stuff to Jordan to package with them.

then I vote for this one😁

Seconded!

Super early draft but this is the idea.

Whoa :exploding_head: I love it!

i love this concept.

you gonna prototype this?

When the time is right! Also, I have some unknowns in the design I need to resolve first. I can choose a different gap width for both modes, which means I need to choose twice as many numbers. Makes it hard to decide anything.

I hadn’t considered that. That is an extra challenge. To make it more fun for you, set up the imperial side to use an A bearing, or both sides. I could use more good small bearing yoyos.

Mk1 Umbra:)

This is actually brilliant

How does the Umbra feel in play? My guess is floaty and effortless. I’m thinking about buying one, or trying to make some kind of trade with @MarkD.

I have to ask. Are you some Richie Rich with a staff of engineers behind the scenes helping you to fulfill your dream of creating a yoyo company? Because so far your designs have been far above what one individual just starting out should be able to create. ::slight_smile:

Glen, you should totally get one! it’s absolutely worth $65. it does play floaty and effortless! i heard @Durfee(? i think it was him) say you don’t really notice the width, and it isn’t a problem, when it comes to landing on multiple strings. slacks and whips are just… … effortless, because of the Airetics being fast and whippy, and the Umbra being wide, it makes for a very nice experience. hope you buy one!

Broad & light & stable. It’s very comfortable to catch even if it comes back hard. It’s a bit tricky to thread it into dense tech (which is expected) and it requires a bit more finesse on the throw so it comes down straight. It’s a bit light for longer one-throw tricks but you can get through quite a bit if you’re careful. It’s not as “down to business” as the Diffraction but still very capable.

Thank you  I wish I had the resources to support an operation like that, but I just spend a lot of time in my CAD software moving stuff around until it’s just right. I also put in some hours now and then studying other designs and yoyos to try to map their feel to numbers in my head.
