MB's official blast thread..why not? Update..8/10/14 One of three for FYA Champs

I love how the blast sparkles in the sun!

Raw untouched aluminum baby.

Since these are just blasted and dont get clear anoed or any other ano does the blast wear away after time and can the yoyo oxidize?

It varies between different types of blast, but yes if the yoyo isn’t ano’d or powdercoated after blasting it can wear down with heavy use.

Yes. I recommend an ano of some sort be it clear or better yet a color.

I can’t comment for other blasts and how they hold up. I use a very fine bead, finer than most know exists, and it will get dirty. Easy enough to clean though. A fingernail can leave a mark and that’s not so easy to remove unless you can bead blast.

Safe easy way to strip for $15 and leaves cash in your pocket for ano work.

Do you do blasting jobs on their own, without a powder coat? If so, how much would that run a fellow?

Oh, sorry. Didn’t see that last post about the blast wearing off. Do you know anyone who does clear ano still?

To answer your other question yes I can blast whatever it is you’d want done.

I can direct you to someone for a seal.

It won’t wear that much unless you mistreat it. I’ve got a couple of satin finished Dif-e-yos that are over 4 years old that still look good.

But satining is a bit different from a blast. With blasts, you’re adding material, with satins, you’re removing some.

Nothing added with the blast bro. Ano yoyo go in no ano come out, bye bye ano.

I know that blasting pits the surface of the yoyo, but I always thought a thin layer of blast media was added. Like on soda blasts and such.

No it’s not. It’s very similar to a satin job, just a different technique.

Any removal of surface material by sanding, blasting of any method or anything else is simply removal. You’d never be able to paint, ano or powder over it if it was deposited.

Ya learn something new every day  I was always under the impression blasts added something.

Edit: and maybe I should clarify. I knew that blasting removed the anodization, but I thought small particles adhered to the aluminum. Like on Josh’s Galaxy Blasts - there’s GOTTA be something that’s sticking to the yoyo.

Not familiar with the Galaxy blast but I’d say it was strictly based on the media used. ILYY and their finish.

Why don’t you make something new? Atom Blast :stuck_out_tongue: Sea Blast?

use seasalt?

Try walnut shells.
