I made a cheat sheet for setting up 2a/looping yoyos.
You always start from the middle. Based on how the yoyo currently plays, decide how you want to change it. You now have four options to choose, loop up (make it loop more upward), more response, loop down, or less response.
Depending on your choice, you will now have options to change your yoyo. If there are multiple options, you are free to choose either or all of them.
Once you do said option, test the yoyo. If it doesn’t change enough, pick the green arrow next to it (prioritize green over red). You can change the yoyo further but there are now side effects.
For example if you want more response and did lubed your yoyo but it’s still not responsive enough, choose the next green arrow (which is narrow the gap or use thicker string). But now the yoyo will loop down more too, so you’ll need to compensate how you loop. This is the side effect.
Also if you don’t want a certain option and can deal with the ones with side effects, you can choose that too. For example if you want the yoyo to loop up but don’t want shorter string, you can choose to widen gap or use thinner string, even though it will also become less responsive.
Use the red option as a last resort, normally you don’t need to use this. If you still feel the need to change beyond red option, maybe it’s not the right yoyo for you.
Feel free to save/print/share/whatever.
Hope this helps.
