Looking for opinions on metal unresponsive yoyos

Ok I have a beginner yoyo coming tomorrow to start practicing but I’m wondering. I really want a metal unresponsive but I’m wondering with so many brands on the market it’s difficult to choose who is the leaders in quality.

I know I’m not ready for a metal unresponsive but I’m doing my research to see which brand I want to go with. What are you throwing currently and why and maybe what yoyo do you think I should look into.

I’m also interested in fingerspin yoyos but no necessary but maybe I’ll buy a fingerspin and a non fingerspin

wild for competitive
Atmos for organic
Recess for swag

Really, just pick one that looks cool to you above anything else. Also, stay within your budget.

I don’t really have much of a budget to be honest not trying to brag or anything but I make good money. My main concern is I just want a yo-yo that is just good. You know very minimal vibration, long sleep, just high quality and I’m just not sure which way to go. I’ve been looking for days and yes there’s some really cool design ones but you know I just don’t know about specific brands.

You know, I know certain people like certain brands and skip other brands definitely would like something maybe with a unique design. Something cool to look at. There was one Lord of the rings. Yo-yo but it’s sold out which I kind of liked. It was black and had the Ring of power design around it.

I’m really getting excited to learn yo-yos that’s why I have my beginner coming. But I’m already interested in getting a unresponsive for the more serious tricks. Yes, that’s down the road but I’ll probably end up buying 10 yo-yos I don’t know

Pick something that you like the look and feel of so much that you can’t stop holding it and looking at it. That’s the one that will make you want to throw. Eventually you will have a hundred of them and your toughest decision will be which one do I throw today

Gotcha. Understand. I just wasn’t sure if like you know buying a $50 yo-yo was as good as $150 one. Or you know, is there certain brands you should stick to? You know some might have vibration. Some brands might be built better that don’t have it. I was just a little overwhelmed because there’s so many and there’s so many brands and so many different names

I’ve been looking at all the brands and looking at what they have to offer and like I said, I was just getting overwhelmed because you don’t want to buy anything that’s that’s not up to par like you buy a $50 yo-yo from another brand. Then maybe there’s a different brand that has a $50 yo-yo that performs better or vice versa. You know $100 yo-yo from one brand might not be the best but $100 yo-yo from another brand might be amazing. So that was my only dilemma

Honestly its pretty hard to go wrong with most brands these days, and there is really not much difference in the $50 range up to $100 its just brand/anodization/whatever else if youre talking abkut aluminum monometals

In my opinion just find something you think looks good and build your preferences from there. But I would play with your responsive for a bit first.

I have $50 yoyos that play just as well as my $150 yo-yos. The manufacturing amongst the major brands are pretty much aircraft tolerances and machined to perfection. Companies like Gsquared or G2 ( same company) test every yoyo and his standards are extremely high but you pay a little extra for him doing that.

what you spend won’t give you the best yoyo for you. i would start out with looking at your shape and size preferences, and work back from there with help from the community. in all honesty, there’s nary a bad yoyo created, just ones that don’t fit the player.

Most of the yoyo brands are very high quality.

It’s kinda difficult to find a truly bad yo-yo. It’s kinda more preference of shape and size at this point

Many of the boutique brands you see are done by a handful of manufacturers

Can go wrong with anything Manufactured by

One Drop

(they manufacture many of the yo-yos for the most renowned sought after boutique brands)

Yes OneDrop, designed and machined in Oregon. There is an excellent yoyo in stock called the Crucible. It will do everything you want it to do.

Nothing a $150 yoyo can do that a $50 yoyo can’t.

Thw more expensive ones just look nice, and may have more expensive material

That Rin Bearer seemed to spark joy in you. That seems to be thr yoyo for you :heart_hands:

because.. whatever motivates you more is the best yoyo

anything you buy in the price range you’re talking about will be able to handle anything you can for a long time to come. you’ll need to start competing pretty hard for the minor performance differences to matter and by then you’d know what you need better than anyone. it’s really all about personal preference and a huge part of that preference is aesthetic and feels

the black ones with the one ring engravings are supposed to be getting a restock soon! if you like that one, maybe just wait for it

it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but know there’s no wrong answer. try to look at it all as more of a buffet of choices rather than something with pitfalls. good luck and above all else have fun!

I’m not going to lie that ring bearer yo-yo is nasty ever since I seen it. It’s something that I just want and I can’t get my mind off of it. It’s not that expensive either. I mean at $110 it is a little pricey. I’m a huge fan of Lord of the rings. I’m also a big fan of giraffes, but there’s no giraffe yo-yo

Get the ring bearer, great yoyo (at least for my preferences) and mk1 gives some consistently high quality. Never gotten a throw from them with more than a tinnnny hint of finger nail vibe (you said that was important to you).

A great yoyo to play and it does look sweet. As everyone has already said, there is NO BEST YOYO. Everything in a yoyo comes down to personal preference in shape, dimensions, speed, power, float. There is a million factors and finding the exact right yoyo for you unfortunately means buying hundreds and tuning your preference.

For a beginner I would definitely not recommend just buying every yoyo you see to find that preference. As people have said, buy a yoyo that looks sweet and every time you pick it up, it makes you motivated and enjoy throwing THAT yoyo.
