I’ve found bringing my less played stuff to meet ups gets them more play than I usually give them.
Once I finally make it to a Mile High Yoyo Club meet again I’m gonna bring every case and see if can’t make a sale/trade, give one or two away etc. I made a mistake when I was starting out again last year to just buy a bunch of cheaper, more affordable throws I had no knowledge on or anything, and now I’m stuck with em taking up space in my cases lol
Those are the bring to the park and let kids throw them throws.
Question is now how many yo-yos are 18%
43.5% of those Duncan’s are in the Freehand Series. Which has been growing at an exponential rate thanks to @bjardin
A few words… purple Duncan Butterfly. Yeah, that sums it up. Oh, I also have a green ghost Chief, but it mostly collects dust.
Is there an explanation for this rather limited collection of one yoyo in one color?
I like the Butterfly because everyone knows what a Duncan Butterfly is. I had one when I was a kid. When people see you throwing it, they know what you’re working with. They can be found in stores. They are cheap. They are not the “best”, but they play pretty well. Nostalgic. Classic. Purple is the best color, imo. They don’t last forever, especially if you play them everyday, don’t care if they hit the ground or if your kids play with them or if other people want to try it, walk the dog on concrete when asked, or if you want to try stuff like fixed axle mobius. So far I’ve broken 2 in 6 months. I’m not a “Butterflies only” person, I just like them. I look forward to trying some nice wood throws in the future. I can’t justify spending money for that right now though due to medical bills, and a surgery coming up that means I won’t be able to work or yo-yo() for at least a month. It’s all good though.
Got ya! Thanks for the detailed reply!
Good luck with the surgery!
My collection is massive so I’ll just make a little list of some of my favs and some fun stories/memories attached to them. Emphasis on some of my favs.
CLYW Beater - Copped at Nats '22, super fun thing to throw around, @DangItsAndy immediately went ahead and dinged it on a coffee shop chair
Heaven Sent Creep - Also copped at Nats '22, one of the B-grades that were available. I love this yoyo and will probably never get rid of it. Nats memories as well as just a good-playing yoyo that I can always always always enjoy no matter what. Might get the heaven sent skull tatted somewhere on my body as a fun lil easter egg lol.
Asteria Star Trail - I preordered this one. Got sent the wrong color. Matcha was cool with me keeping it, and then literally when I went to put my string on it, it slipped out of my fingers and bounced across the floor. Worst ring shift I’ve ever seen in my life on a yoyo. Matcha went ahead and sent me a replacement that was the right color this time lol
C3Yoyodesign Hydrogen Crash - I camped a Japanese website that’s titled a synonym for backpedal, for the specific Shibuya Edition colorway and waited until it was released. I think it was released at around 4:00-5:00 AM or so. Then, of course, it was available way further into the day than I anticipated so I realized camping for this drop wasn’t worth. Oh well, it was still fun lol.
Aggressor - Love this thing and always will. Homies helped out and I’ll always be eternally grateful. Got my tattoo for them, they know who they are lol.
Can’t list them out, but in a few words: lacks impulse control.
Glad I got the Creep. It is super fun and the binds are so good.
