I’m the thread starter, and in this thread, any moons that have been shot before the yoyo comes back to your hand count, regardless if any craziness in between, lol. We gotta get them numbers up somehow.
I can’t say I have an interest in breaking the record, but I have to say thanks, because this thread combined with getting a @DocPop Weekender for the first time inspired me to try it again. I completed my first STM Friday evening, and on Saturday I did a few Lunar Landings.
I dont think anyones getting super close to breaking that record😅
congrats on the first few STM’s and Lunar Landings!
Looking forward to seeing your progress on the way to breaking the record ;]
So I have been having very unsuccessful days of moon shooting lately, but that doesn’t mean this thread needs to be forgotten. How many STM’s have yall done today?
I came down with the Covid, I’ve done a few sickly STMs lol. Haven’t broke 12 just yet
damn dude, I hope you don’t get hit too hard. I had it september of 2020 and it was no joke, wishing you and your family speedy recoveries!
It’s all good. I had it back in 2020 and it was terrible. This time is not near as bad. I appreciate the kind words.
I’m gonna try shooting the moon with a few different throws tomorrow for a change of pace to try to beat 12.
I actually recently discovered that the Deep State with a nicely greased bearing is super easy to control during STM.
Hit 109 today!
I got a fixie mod from soul fuel and its so fun to stm with my old plastic auldey!
I think I wont try to go over 109. My neck hurts😂
That’s insane! I updated the original post, you’re the leader in the thread!
I was stuck at 12, but somehow, I pulled off 16 today. My goal is 25 by Sunday.
I’ve been alternating between the RBC, Weekender and Deepstate.
Anyone know why some yoyos (for me at least) won’t work for Shoot The Moon? Can they be that they’re too heavy or can it be done regardless of weight and I’m not good enough (yet)? Example: The new Freehand One (the plastic one that came out a few weeks ago in red, blue or yellow) always goes forward rather than back on the first flip. I have a few fixed axle throws that don’t seem to work either, but most do ok.
You have to adjust string length to match the yoyo for proper moons.
So…heavier need longer string I’m guessing. I already use a pretty long string and I’m only 5’ 7" or so. I’ll try a longer one this weekend. Thanks.
It’s not just weight, but also response dependent. If I recall correctly it’s the other way around. Shorter string if it’s going forward longer if is going too far back. Could be wrong on that though. Learned this from an @edhaponik post. He’ll know.
Correlation between string length and gap.
Wider gap or shorter string will loop up. Narrower gap or longer string will loop down.
Glad you weren’t using heavily greased up Noctu’s
Wishing you a speedy recovery, my friend
Still trying to get the wrist flip down.
