Something about these stubby bottles, you just can’t not like them.

Very nice. That’s mine and my buddy’s standard tailgating beer. No tailgating this year but we have remained true to the tradition on the rare occasions we’ve gotten together this fall.

Few good breweries up here in/around Buffalo. Resurgence and Big Ditch just to name a couple makes some fine beverages. I’m a fan of those fat tire beers also. So yummy.

Just found this thread, haven’t had a chance to read through it yet so sorry if my suggestions are duplicates. But there’s a few really good breweries local to me.

Hutton & Smith is based in my hometown, and they make fantastic IPAs, of note Promenade, Igneous and Bivouac Black IPA.

My absolute favorite IPA is from another local brewery, Homestyle from Bearded Iris Brewing Co. They also have a Double Homestyle, and a lot of other really good brews.

Finally, if you haven’t checked out Terrapin you’re doing yourself a disservice. Unfortunately they no longer make my favorite, Liquid Bliss, but they still have some great beers in a variety of styles. Hopsecutioner is a great IPA, and they also have some good stouts, sours, you name it.

On a related note, if you haven’t heard of the app Untappd I highly recommend it. Basically you can “check in” with a beer, and leave a rating and review, so it’s a great way to keep track of beers you’ve tried if you’re like me and try tons of different beers, and it’s a good way to easily see what you thought of a beer if you forget what it was like. Also a good way to find new beers because you can become friends with people and see what they’re checking into, so you can discover stuff your friends like.

Sounds like you have some good spots nearby! I used to use Untappd years ago, but came to the same conclusion as my buddies that once you get like a few thousand beers in it just feels like more of a chore. And I never really liked the rating system. We all just kind of stopped using it one day.

I’m sipping on some Hermit Thrush tonight and watching election news. Cheers everyone! :beers:

How do you all fee about hazy vs west coast ipas ? I personally prefer west coast with citrusy flavors.

I didn’t really know there was a distinction, tbh. I have noticed most of my favorite IPAs have Citra hops as a major component, which is a very citrus-y flavor. And I tend to like the opaque, yellow, fruity kind of IPAs most, attested by the fact that Homestyle is my favorite and it’s a Citra hopped IPA.

I’m with you. I know this is New England, but I’m getting a little sick of literally everyone making sweet/hazy NEIPAs around here, some places are passing the trend though. For a while it felt like whenever you stepped into a new brewery they just had a list of like 4-5 NEIPA with maybe one uninspired pilsner or pale ale just to offer a little variety. I still love a good west coast IPA though, bring on the IBU!

Yeah, the hazy trend was very heavy in local breweries out here in SoCal too.

It’s kind of going away but a lot of breweries still will have mostly hazy and maybe one west coast style ipa .

I get the sense that it’s this way because maybe it’s more favorable to the mainstream .

If you get the chance, Powder Hollow in Hazzardville, CT isn’t all that far from Easthampton, nor is Stubborn Beauty or Forest City (both in Middletown, CT, and, in the same building). Lots of non-NEIPA choices there.

buzzards bay brewery located in Westport Ma, is a great staple of the east coast! and they also have some pretty good food

I never really come to this thread because I’m 19, but I always think its funny that its one of the top threads on a yoyo forum.

That says something about the demographic on here haha.

See you guys in two years when I’m old enough to know what you’re talking about
