What do you guys do to learn new songs on the bass or guitar?

I would like to learn how to play the song Friday by Joe Jackson on the bass.

Search for bass tabulature.

I write my own music.

But, if I ever want to learn a riff for some reason its by ear

I just learned By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass.
Their bassist is one of my idols and that’s one of my favorite songs :wink:

Next is probably Dani California by the same band :slight_smile:

I tried the tabs with no luck.

I figured out most of the song, but there’s a few parts I still need to get

If you want actual challenging basslines try some Primus, Rush, or Streetlight Manifesto

I don’t want “challenging” bass lines, i want fun, good sounding, deep unique basslines. But i know Tom Sawyer by Rush on bass :slight_smile:

I really love playing the cure on my bass and gorillaz both are fun and pretty easy
