It's late, here's my stupid idea.

Stone pla sounds absurd I will need to fix my main printers hot end and try some at some point

Oh yeah I’m loving this idea! Not many folks even know what fordite is, I came upon the term when I saw a chunk during my years spent in the suburbs of Detroit, making auto parts at a plastics plant.

Incredible idea, but as its density is not evenly dense, I guess it would vibrate like crazy😅

I think you mean to say each will be imbued with a personality all its own :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Oh awesome! I made a LOT of GMT-900 series door handles and from 2011-2014 and in 10-11 I made the headliners for the same line of trucks! Some other various parts but mainly I worked the gmt line. Sometimes I miss it.

Yes it is! :exploding_head: Highly possible the parts I made crossed your path at some point!

Got a kg of limestone filled plastic on the way to 3d print a brick on a string. If it works and the original poster is still around I’ll mail them one when it’s ready.

I think one important aspect would be to make sure it doesn’t become a string cutter. Given the right stone, one should be able to polish it smooth enough to not be a problem, though.

I’m also thinking it might be possible to do this by hand with a dremel to avoid cracking, but vibe is inevetible.

A skilled enough person could for sure pull it off. Masons and stone cutters are badass, especially restorers. They can cut things out of old building facades, make a new piece exactly like the original, and just slide them right back in.

Well it’s been 13 years but somehow I still have my account.
I was wondering why I suddenly started getting emails from the forums again :joy:

Sorry, it’s my fault…
I resurrected this thread because the same idea occurred to me as you,did 13 years later, and while searching for information on yo-yos made of stone/minerals as they were made in ancient times (apart from those made with wood) I came across your thread;)

Wooo! I’m working through prototypes for the limestone yoyo. It’s gonna be beautiful once it’s ready. I’ll post up here once it’s a little closer to a finished design. If you DM me your address I will mail you one for free.
