Improve Search Engine Status/Marketing?

Hi,
I guess this is more a suggestion on the marketing end of things. I noticed that when you type in “buy yoyos” or “buy yo-yo” in the search engines like Yahoo and Google, this site does not place well in the listings. Traffic will increase dramatically for this site, if it will place on the first page of the search results, especially the top half of the page, when someone searches those key words. It did not place too bad on Google with “yo-yo” with the hyphen, but if you word it other ways, it does not place well. There are some things you could do with the site to bring it toward the top of the search results in a matter of months. It would be something for the webmaster to look into, and it’s free, but too long an explanation to list here, but I could explain more in a PM.

I thought of this because of the way I found this site. I was watching a yoyo video of a yoyo competition, and I was looking at all the logos in the background where it usually has all the promotional stuff (Duncan, YYF, Yomega and so on). I decided to write down all the company names and websites I saw in the background and look them up. I saw Yoyoexpert.com, looked it up, and I was shocked to find that I was using the search engines for buying yoyos and never noticed this site. If the search engine placement for yoyoexpert.com was a lot better for these key words, “buy yoyos” “buy yo-yos” singular and plural versions of that…I think it would be better for business. I would have bought from you long ago. You don’t want the competition to pop up on the first page…and you don’t pop up at all…or have people click elsewhere first. I hope this makes sense.

Please post in the thread what you think, or how you found this site…

I found this site in a rather convoluted way.

I was looking up yoyo tutorials when I started out. I see “Team YoYoJam” on his shirt so I have to check that out, and learned about YoYoJam, so I figured I better see WHO the guy was, which was fortunately listed on the YoTube listing. Looking at that on the YoYoJam site, I saw the signature yoyo so I now knew what yoyo he was using and wanted it. I forget what was next, but I put in Andre Boulay into the search engine and ended up at YYE. Hmm, forum, shopping, lessons… A one stop shop. I like that.

My search could have been much more efficient, but knowing almost nothing, it can become difficult to know exactly what terms to put into a search engine for best results. I got lucky.

This wasn’t the first site I ended up on. It is the main one I buy from.

Woaaa, and here I’ve been banning all the SEO adverts posted.

Me too…and I still think it’s so weird how I found the site. I was typing “buy yoyos” in the search engines and getting sites that were not nearly as good. Also, this site has a lot of traffic, especially in the forum, so it was surprising to me. Interesting that you found out about the site similar to me.

lol…I know…I guess I should have been a business major, but trust me what I do for a living is not even close. I used to promote my music independently online when I was younger…so I’m still thinking from that perspective.
