Yeah coz they offer precise string centering and also can accomodate multiple string layers better than normal ones. The difference is very minor but my dream yoyo should have everything perfect.
I have noticed that grooved bearings cause snag more than any other type of bearing. I have replaced most of my grooved bearings because they inevitability cause my yoyos to snag.
I think Brandon vu also prefers grooved bearings. I’m going to try a few

Its more of a preference thing. Also who knows I may try one and decide nah the good ol’ concave is better.
