I like my yo-yos like I like my blood cells... (A Blood Cell, RBC, and Plasm Appreciation Thread)

I wasn’t really being serious. I think plastic might be best for this design anyways.

I’m on the hunt for a coke bottle green Plasm. Posted in the BST a while ago looking for one but didn’t get any hits. DM me if you have one you’d part ways with.

That might become one of the most popular ones.

Well, first of all, what’s rather interesting and unexpected to me is that the metal RBC is a fair bit than the plastic Plasm.

Scale says 49g RBC alu, 52g Plasm plastic. IMO 49g is just a bit too light.

I can definitely see this, the plasm is, again, IMO, a far far better overall yo-yo than the metal RBC.

I would say the Plasm is maybe my favorite plastic of all time. Seriously. IT REALLY IS THAT FRICKIN GOOD, a true delight to play in every way.

On paper I can see how the RBC sounds too light, but in hand and throwing it feels like pure class.

Ya I agree. I felt like over the last few years of playing the RBC every day, I would think about tweaks I would make to improve the design. Maybe a little more weight, maybe a little bit larger diameter. But in the end I realized that would take away from its specialness. And now I know not to mess with a good thing.

I’ve said before, it is not a forgiving yo-yo. It will not make you land bigger tricks. But when you do land stuff, it will be clean, beautiful and steezy. Because the RBC accepts nothing less. And it rewards you with pure satisfaction.

I dunno, the gap / response on the RBC still seems slightly off to me. Vastly prefer the Plasma. I do like the RBC but it feels wildly incomplete next to the Plasma, which is – for the real – the single best plastic yo-yo I have ever touched in my life.

extremely [. . .] risky

I wouldn’t want to have to go to the bathroom everytime I throw a magnesium based throw

This is how I describe the “feel” of Plasm to others, as this guy says in this music video..

It was the freshest move I’ve ever seen; it was like he was floatin’ on air…

I’ve never seen anythin’ like it in me life.

It’s like playing with a cloud.. :cloud::yoyo: cheers @Glenacius_K

Can confirm. Plasm is easily one of my favorites. It’s been nearly exclusively in my pocket for the last three months. I tried the Deepest State (I think my most recent yoyo purchase since the Plasm) when I got it, and thought to myself:

This isn’t the Plasm

That said, I need to get one of these Greasebuckets that everyone keeps talking about. Problem is, the only bucket I have is huge and grease is expensive  FR tho, I like my responsives to be, well, responsive

Interestingly, when I want a taste of unresponsive, my go-to while breaking Plasm-exclusivity is typically the Flying Lemon

It’s worth a cop, great bearing. You can load up a c with extra lube to get same results, but I recently snagged one and it’s very nice. Has a very gentle hiss to it too

Thanks for the inspo… I think I’ll take my lemon out for the day!

Ugh, work? Effort? No thanks. I might break a nail? Or a sweat!?

But yeah, It’s currently in my cart, I’m still deciding if that’s all I want to get

F’sho, SWFL is such a great and unique throw, imo

I’m big fan of their bulk string also, but it’s kinda rough if that matters. I think it’s a great thickness, and if you’ve bought an OD new you’ve already tried it probably so… uhh…

Moar side effects?

If you’re on the fence about the Greasebucket I will absolutely give it 2 thumbs up. It is set up just the way I like my greased bearings setup. Still giving dry bearing vibes with the hiss and higher RPM longer spin times compared to when the grease is packed in. It allows very nice response when using a full size C while also allowing you to put some string in the gap without fearing it’s going to lash out and bite you.

It’s not that I don’t want one, because based on everyone’s description, it’s perfect for me, it’s just that I feel silly buying something that weighs less than the packaging. Unfounded feeling, to be sure, but a feeling I have nonetheless

Yeah I ordered mine with some V4M and it came in a standard YoYo package box lol. Ngl I was like “omg did they send me a YoYo too?!” Before I picked up the package lmao

I recently got an edTION Deepest State with the grease bucket and here’s my hot take, it looks amazing, has perfect response but I still prefer the Plasm. For me I think it’s the bearing size itself. The C size bearing carries a lot of power, even lubed up. Not saying the Deepest State is a bad throw, far from it but for me I still prefer the feel of the Plasm as well as the Weekender over the Deepest State and I think it’s because for responsive play I prefer a smaller bearing.
