I like my yo-yos like I like my blood cells... (A Blood Cell, RBC, and Plasm Appreciation Thread)

They’re pretty much just machinist’s choice MR85s purchased in bulk, cheaply.
One of the reasons I like designing for this bearing size is that they are abundant and inexpensive. It’s a common size used in hobbyist RC cars.

OK. Now I don’t feel so bad that I already bricked it

(Still loving this damn throw, BTW!)

I never think to try cotton on bearing throws, but after bricking my MR-85 I tossed a Nectar on the Plasm and it’s bliss!

Thank you for posting this

I ended up using my favorite method to deburr knives and smooth out sharp dings that I learned from another member

Bamboo skewer rubbed along the edges then used to smooth any additional rough spots. I was surprised how long some of the burrs were that I easily removed

Going to play my plasm hard and see if it still cuts strings, I haven’t touched it since I noticed this issue on mine, so fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Just got my hands on a plasm. Fabulous throw!

It’s been 3ish weeks now and I still find that I reach for my Plasm more than any other yoyo in my collection. The weight, shape and response are just perfect. I wish it could handle just a bit more string at times but I’ve got some 3mm bearings coming to see how that feels. I did get a hold of some 4mm MR85s and it made the throw feel heavy as it unwinds if that makes sense.

I was thinking a 3mm with some lube would be pretty nice in the Plasm. Maybe even in the RBC.

My exact thoughts. I’ll let you know in a week or so when the bearings show up.

The 4mm bearing making it feel heavier on the unwind makes a lot of sense. A 4mm gap with a diameter that large with definietly create that effect.
