I like my yo-yos like I like my blood cells... (A Blood Cell, RBC, and Plasm Appreciation Thread)

Truly a thing of beauty.

How’s the polish on everyone’s Plasms going? The smoke colour I’m playing daily is almost full gloss and more fog than smoke, I love it!

I’ve definitely noticed the one I play daily has started to gloss up over the past couple of days. Honestly I love it.

My smoke is also slowly glossing. I also quite like it.

OK. I’m nervous about doing it, but I want to lock up the MR-85 that came with the Plasm so I get better response. What’s the best way to go about it? Should I just cram it full of Gorilla Glue or Vaseline? (it’s what I have on hand.)

Do you have any brain lube? If so, try that before bricking.

I do have some generic thick lube. Maybe I’ll try that first.

I would put a dab of gorilla glue in it and never look back! These MR85 bearings play surprisingly similar with and without locked bearings. Less maintenance on the locked on though.

Holy hell…how do I de-shield this tiny thing?

Take the tiniest flat head screwdriver you have and poke it under the shield and pop it up. I’m talking tiny, I use a 1.8 from a precision screwdriver set.

I used a sewing needle.

Do we just take off one side, put the glue in, and put the side back on?

If I take’em off, they’re staying off

Yeah. No way my broken-■■■■■■■■■ were getting that shielding off. Dropped some gorilla glue and spun it in, cleaning the rest of the bearing off as I went, until it stopped spinning.

I never put shield back on. Especially if it’s a locked bearing it’s not like you need to worry about it getting dirty. But I still never put them back on anyway even if they are clean bearings. That sounds like too much work.

I’ve been buying ABEC 3 rubber shielded MR85’s from Amazon, and the shields pop right out with the tip of a utility blade. They can easily be pressed back into place with a fingernail after packing a little grease in there, which helps keep the grease from oozing out over time.

Once I get the metal shields off, they stay off, lol. Ain’t nobody got time for messing with those more than once.

If you can get that C clip back on I will be throughly impressed.

If Mark has gone out of his way to source better quality bearings, then definitely don’t brick your genuine bearings. Generic MR85s are cheap as.

That being said, absolutely get some generics to brick. The smooth silence of cotton on a steel axle with modern pads is amazing. Plasm has longer spin time than Harbinger (and probably RBC) with a blank too.

Deshielding sucks but you only have to do it once

I’m just over here seeing how long I can get mine to sleep between kick flip practice and looping lmao. My bearing is super smooth and quiet. Have been using the same ZS Air on it since I deburred it, perfect response imo.

Had it out on my walk thru Pennypack with the fam today, along with my Starlite, which I’ll post in another thread
