How do you keep silicone tubes from drying out?

I’m siliconing my first yoyo using red RTV silicone, and I’m wondering to keep the tube (and especially the applicator tip) from drying out so I can use it for future pads.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I couldn’t find it doing a quick search on the forum.

Cover tip in plastic and toss in the fridge.

I saw a “hack” where you can use large wire nuts to cover just the tip. Idk the sizing but it was red, if that helps

I throw mine in a ziplock bag in the fridge.

I just squeeze the tube to have some excess silicone clump around the outside and then put the cap on. I just leave it under my desk. Been using the same tube at least every other month since late 2022 with no issues.

Although I don’t use the applicator nozzle. Leaving the nozzle on is probably a bad idea. The applicator nozzle itself doesn’t exactly have a good seal on the tube.

Keeping the tube out of heat/direct sunlight probably helps, and I don’t live in a super hot or dry climate, so your mileage may vary with just leaving it out. I don’t need to fridge it, but maybe with your climate you would.
