I can’t seem to figure out how to consistently get the slack loop to continue the momentum up and over the yoyo. As soon as I grab the whip like I would for a rev brentstole the slack stops moving.
Here is the trick. Most of my attempts look like the way Tyler first shows to do the movements at like the 26s mark. I’ve gotten it a few times, but not sure what I’m doing differently.

This tutorial goes over the exact same element, might help to see it from another source.
I can do this consistently, but honestly it’s really just a feel thing to me, my advice would be the following:
make sure you’re popping the yoyo up high enough
you want to pinch pretty close to your throwhand, as in the string length from your throwhand to nonthrowhand when you pinch should generally be on the shorter end, gives the slack more room to form
experiment with timing of when you pinch with non throwhand
I learned this Hajime trick pretty recently and the one thing I’ll add is that you can also experiment with when you whip like I like to wait a bit longer before whipping. In both sams whip and the other trick the Yoyo goes 0 gravity first and then Whip like Tyler does it by pushing into the string to pop it up and then whipping and Hajime does it off that pinwheel type move but either way the whip can be separate from the move that brings the Yoyo up into the air or if you’re just pulling up and whipping you need a stronger whip ime and it just works better for me if they are separate movements. You can also kind of add a bit of oomph to the slack after you start gripping it by continuing the circular whipping motion with NTH.
