Yeah, I’m definitely a pliers guy. The only removal tool that I have has rounded corners, and I’ve only gotten it to work maybe once or twice. It’s a cheapo that came with a magic yoyo or something.
I could see the bearing removal tool working if it were made out of stronger material, with sharper corners.
But I’ve never once had a problem using pliers. I use lineman’s pliers with the little hole cut out thingy on the sides. Just enough grip, just enough leverage.
Pliers are definitely not a tool I would suggest to someone who is new to yoying lol, first time I used pliers before I had a bearing tool, I slipped and pinched my fingers like twice because it slipped off the bearing got like a blood blister from that one and by the time I got it off I had scratched up the bearing seat nicked up the silicone pad a little bit it was a disaster
Protip: Slow and easy is the way to go with either tools
The yyf multitool works for me, but the string cutter is kinda crap. I couldn’t get it to work on my old one, and it works on mine now but only with "adult assistance required" levels of force. I don’t get how the chunks of metal parts would fail to work. I have the same magicyoyo chunk of metal and it works just fine.
I used a pair of wire strippers with tiny pliers at the tip once. Worked fine for me! Slow and steady as mentioned above! Also don’t crush the bearings! Unless you’re having the op problem lol. @Chrisdoc145 did the idea to sacrifice the bearing, and tac a bar to it for a lever cross your mind!? Lol. I mean you already had your good on!
My Counter Jet is like that. The bearing scraped some ano off the bearing post when I finally got it out. It’s still a fantastic undersized throw. I just kinda wish it was still mint.
My YYF Boss always had a crazy tight set on it. For me, the magicyoyo tool that is just a 2in metal tube works great. The key is to use fast twitch muscles to put some good wiggle action on it. Always comes out after a few seconds on good wiggles.
