General Yoyo Thoughts

My purge is easy - go from 11 WAs to 2-4. Get rid of OG Shutter since I’m not doing Gentry collection any more. Sell any yo-yo I go more than a month without touching that isn’t in my collection for sentimental value.

Not nearly so systematic. Just kinda Marie Kondo-ing it. If I’m like “eh I wonder if I should keep this or sell it” then I’m selling it.

What I have up is Round 1 basically. Next Saturday I’m gonna put up at least a couple of more throws. And I’ll just kinda proceed from there.

My goal is to clear one full case. That way I have space for more throws :joy:

i’ve found a lot more joy in what i do have now, and am enjoying a lot more of them more frequently.

I think I could cut my collection down to 8…maybe even less…and be set for life.

But I’m a bit of a hoarder, am compulsive and am enjoying the wall art collection.

Anyone know where I can find comprehensive specs and profile shots for G2 stuff? Website doesn’t list all throws, doesn’t have profile shots and doesn’t always list specs.

It’s incredibly frustrating. Not sure why brands do this.

How do you choose a active rotation? At first, as i got anew yoyo i would just play each til the string wore out. then i get a fresh string on each… i still doi this but it’s now taking about 2 month to get back to the beginning of the rotation…i miss my conspiracy :smirk:

Tomorrow have to restring em all… should i try out phat monkey vines or plutonium yysl?

Two factors:

  1. I spend enough exclusive time with a new yoyo to determine whether or not I actually like it. Sometimes this is a few weeks, sometimes it’s a day or so.

  2. I don’t really care which yo I chose for the day’s carry, as long as it has a very quiet bearing, and a somewhat fresh string.

I just look at my collection and choose whichever one appeals to my mood. I also keep a fixie, a v, an organic, and a few other yoyos in my kitchen and rotate them whenever I think about it. I’d say about 75% of my yoyos will see play often enough.

my active rotation generally consists of a couple-few reponsives and unresponsives. what i pick will depend on if i haven’t played it in a while, if i’m trying to learn something, or i’m looking for a unique experience. my current rotation consists of a sparrow, canvas, daytona sb, mini mo-tu and a bape1.

I don’t have a hard and fast schedule for rotation. Generally, like SmileyPants, a new yoyo gets time so I can decide if it is a keeper. Other than that, usually I throw fixed axles in Friday, and, last year I was fixed axle exclusively in February. I may or may not repeat this year. If I’m learning a new trick, I lean towards long spinning and stable. When I’m just throwing and seeing where the yoyo takes me, I pick based on what catches my eye.

I don’t really plan out any rotation, I just grab whatever I’m in the mood for, and I’ll also keep a throw or two in different areas, like in my car, my backpack I use for work and carry around the most, kitchen, living room, just in case I feel like a quick throw without picking one out. I’m also one of those people that have multiples in different colorways, and sometimes for me, even just a color change makes the same yoyo feel exciting again. :grinning:

I don’t really have a plan either. I usually have 2 or 3 yoyos I use a lot of the time (right now it’s the Hummingbird and Endgame)…but then I like to pick up random throws in my collection throughout the week.
I’m often very pleasantly surprised at how fun some of my lesser thrown yoyos are!

It’d be really easy for me to just use a couple of my yo-yos all the time. And I like collecting just for the sake of collecting…but I really try hard to play with all my yos as well.

I can’t collect for the sake of it, any yoyos I own that aren’t regularly played with get sold/traded.

this is exactly what i do. but it’s mostly my awesome Bi-Metal Superstar, and my Quash.

I have two cases, a big one and a small one. All the yoyos I have in current rotation are in the small case. If I’m not using a yoyo in the small case it gets switched for a different one. Sometimes I feel like other yoyos so il get out the big case and play with those.:slightly_smiling_face:
Edit. I don’t have a strict rotation in my small case I just have yoyos in it that I’m most likely to use.
