For all machined Freehand 1 owners

Today while doing bearing maintenance I noticed that my Delrin FH1 did not thread together very smoothly, so I decided to switch out the axle for another m4-0.7x8 axle I had lying around. The yoyo not only screws together more smoothly but the little bit of vibe it previously had was cleaned up as well.

For the $2 it costs for a new axle I think this is definitely worth doing, so I thought I’d share.

Looking closely at the threads of the original axle there are definitely some inconsistencies where the first few threads on each end are noticeably thicker. I don’t know enough to say that this is the cause of my experience though. Not sure if mine is a dud or if Duncan is using oddly low quality axles in these.

I’ve never had to take my Delrin or PC FH1 apart. They’re both as smooth as a plastic yoyo can be, almost no discernable vibe to either of them.

Yeah mine was quite smooth to begin with as well, but there was still an improvement.

I’ve been looking at one and this tip is good to know, thanks.
