first time you met another yoyoer..

well the first time i met anther yoyoer was shortly after i had gotten my first “real” yoyo… i was yoyoing after french horn lessons at McNeese state University and another guy walked up and said hey man what yoyo you got… i told him it was a yomega Dash he told he had a yoyojam darkmagic and told me about it then had to leave because he had a class…

that was my first introduction into the yoyoing world and it ended up leading me to this site and the old yoyonation forum (may it rest in peace).

now tell me about the first time you found someone else who yoyoed

Well, alecto, I found you at church about 1.5 years ago.

Excluding professionals, first yoyoer that I met that t regularly talk to all the time is another member in here, ThinkH2o. Met at BAC, both of us have been pushing each other to keep motivated with new tricks and progression.

I was at a toy store looking to see what yoyos they had and some guy said “You looking for good yoyos? They have a store in Brek. (town up the hill) I got a Shutter there, wish I had it with me today.” This was only a few days after a got my first yoyo and this REALLY helped me get started and I wish I knew who he was so I could thank him.

As some of you know. Yoyod as a little kid. Not much. But enough to watch yo yo videos as a young adult. Moved to ct. Started working at a snowboard and ski shop where this other guy started working shortly after. He brought in his kendamas which led him to bringing in his yoyos which got me back into yoyos.

I met one at a 4th of July party my parents took us to one year, apparently it was one of my brothers friends older brother. (if that makes any sense)

London meetup in 2013 I believe. Popped over during my lunch break and met Armani Genteles-Williams (sp?)

…and another random forum member. Was awesome to see such talented throwers in real life, so even though I could only stay there for a few minutes before I had to head back to work, it was eye opening.

HOWEVER! The adventure was not over…

… it turned out that evening that I missed my train home and had to wait an hour or so for another, so I decided to re-join the meetup.

When I got there, turns out that Ann Connolly and Palli had shown up, as well as tonnes of other really talented players. So needless to say, it was epic for a guy who had never seen another thrower before in his life. I’ve never been so glad to miss a train.

Wow, nice! I’ve never met another thrower excerpt for my school friend (and two other friends, but taht is because I introduced them to yoyoing).

I met Zach Gustafson Before I even started yoyoing he’s the one that got me into the hobby and is one of my best freinds

I started yoyoing thanks to Evan Gronberg, so him. My brother can’t really count, so other than those two, I ran into Sean Perez and Bryan Jardin at Disney.

I know that feel bro.

I ran into a younger (and better) kid yoyoing at my church Also ran into a group of about four people who yoyo at six flags discovery kingdom I was just yoyoing in line and they came up and said Hey we yoyo too that’s cool and showed me one of their throws. Before I actually started yoyoing I met someone at a summer camp who yoyos and has a string company (I think, but maybe he works for a string company) Also of course met a lot of people at contests and clubs I’ve gone too. And at my school where like half of the people yoyo but those don’t really count.
