First metal

C3YoYoDesign Token

Recrev electric daisy. My first yoyo actually

mine first metal was a c3 dibase lost it due to a striped axel hole and had a yoyo funeral, still missed that little yoyo. but i may buy another one or get a dibase 2

A Red YYJ eneme…

It’s not the best throw in the world but it set me up with a good skill set for better throws after having to learn those advanced tricks on a crappy metal. Still got it to, but never use it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Duncan Raptor. Probably at least 5 moths in. Still my favorite yoyo.

After a Pocket Pro Zombie which was my first yoyo (I don’t even count it as a true metal, as its responsive) and a ProtoStar, I thought I would splurge and buy a YYF Yuuksta. I viewed it as a super expensive amount of money to spend on a yoyo (not anymore ;)). I was about into the advanced section of this site when I got it, I remember starting to learn grinds with it, when an unresponsive metal becomes more necessary.

Umm I got a metal drifter a couple weeks after I started but i dont think that really counts. Then i got a dv888 soon after

markmont next after like 2 or 3 months. Had a ONE and then a Chaser… then I went out on a whim and got a markmont next because mark montgomery was (and still is) my favorite player.

My 1st metal was a Tom Kuhn SB1. I got it in 1991 in my freshman year of HS… At that point I had played for about 3-4 months strong but I remember having a bunch of duncans as a kid and early teens… My first “modern” metal was a CLYW Campfire that I bought from YYE in August of 2010… I had been throwing a YYJ Mini Motu since 2003 (on and off) and I figured it was time for an “upgrade”

God Tricks Freedom, I didn’t know that yoyos come in different sizes, or atleast that they don’t come in such an extreme, so I was like “SWEET A METAL FOR 37 DOLLARS?” and I bought it without looking back. Even though it is a mid-undersized throw, I love it dearly.

Supernova!, got one right after trying my friends 2009 Severe.

A GTO I had probably been yoyoing for 6 months at that point.

I have almost completed the learn section (2 master and a few expert 1 & 2), I can also do all the styles from 1a to 5a, and I haven’t bought a metal yoyo ;).

Dif-e-yo GTO. Years.

Wooly marmot. Lol. Start with a clyw.

Same here man XD

I think you should never ever get another di base. You should leave it in your memory. It might haunt you if you replace it too

2011 supernova

You can easily chip metal, and there are plastics that are heavier than metal throws.

These are true facts. My YYJ Chaser is about the heaviest yoyo I own. Granted, it has weight rings, but so do many other “plastics” and they’re still plastics.

I think more people would be worried LESS about cracking/chipping their plastic than their metal.

That said, i think going to metal right away is perfectly fine. Nobody needs to ‘cut their teeth’ and prove anything… if you want a metal for whatever reason at all, it’s your prerogative to get one! Capless is a great choice, btw. Was playing mine earlier tonight, and it stands tall with any other yoyo I’ve ever thrown.
