Person (if we’re trying to be politically accurate)
One point you bring up I do disagree with, and my counterpoint may bring some friction with some people, but it needs pointed out: You can get decent metals for cheaper than a Protostar/Atmosphere.
Some metals of a certain brand go for only around $12 while they have slightly better ones for around $20. Granted, they may not grind like the $100 throws with some glorious finish on it, but it is a metal yoyo in every other regard.
Hm. I wonder how it will play with that much material taken off the rims? Could be great! However, I highly doubt that a modded dv888 will give anyone the picture of what we’re referring to when we’re talking about metal yoyos in general.
Trust me, I’ve played high end metals like the CLYW Chief, Sasquatch. The OD Dietz, OD OG Project, Quark, genesis, Skyline, G5 555 ED., another G5 first run. (At least I think) A Duncan Mayhem. Ect.
I have owned a few metals, the ones I still own are my Gnarwhal and my Metal Drifter. I have owned in the past a Dv888(never ever try to hubstack it) and a Modded Maverick and a Theory. I like my Phenomizm more than my Theory and my Gnarwhal. Even though the Phenomizm is part plastic. The durability thing is so not true what ever plastic YYJ uses is incredibly durable. Metal may not snap but unless it has a really tough coating like my gnarwhal then it dents and scratches with ease. Don’t be talked in to think metal is the end all be all, it is nice but there are hybrids that can hang with high end metals. It is all about how good the yoyo is not what it is made from. If there was a great yoyo made from fossilized dinosaur poop I would buy it. Harderned cheese if it played great sign me up. It is not what a yoyo is made from it is how it plays. If you like metal play with metal, just don’t put down people who prefer plastic, personally I like both with all there pros and cons.
