Fiesta Xtra Xtreme (crazy mod)

Hello everyone. Today I proudly present to you the Fiesta Xtra Xtreme. This yoyo is the product of a wack expirement done by myself and my good friend Qwertyo.

The back story: A little over a year ago I bought my first offstring yoyo, a blue fiesta xx. After much play and love it broke. After a nasty fall the yoyo chipped. The chip was about an inch wide and deep. The yoyo was completely unplayable. It had wobble and cut you whenever you touched the wrong side. So me being a evil mad scientist I cooked up a little expirement to bring my beloved offstring back to life. Late at night I called my friend Qwertyo and we performed its revival. We grabbed a drill, some goggles, and a pair of scissors and got to work. We shaved a little over an inch from both sides so that the chip was no more. The result was the thinnest offstring yoyo ever made!

The result: It played surprisingly well. It is completely playable and surprisingly has amazing spin times. I absolutely love it!

Once you got used to the smaller size, I think it would actually play better than the full sized. I feel the plastic was too cheap to make such a big yoyo with anyways.

Nice work and a good evaluation of what to do to bring it back to life.

I really do like the play of it. While its not the best for competition it’s really fun to throw around. Seriously amazed but the spin time im getting on it.

Goggles?!!?, we wore spy glasses and 3d glasses. But that truly was fun.

Haha. Great job guys. Looks great.

Not bad, it lives on! And considering the flat rims of the Fiesta XX, it looks like you didn’t lose much catch zone anyways. I rounded the rims of my YYJ Classic with a drill and the side of a chisel and it’s a much more comfortable catch now. The side of the chisel doesn’t snag like the sharp end and you have a lot of control.

I can only imagine the amount of shavings and time it took to get your Fiesta in the shape it’s in

Are you holding the sharp end to try to cut against the direction of rotation? If you drag or scrape with it rather than try to cut it shouldn’t snag.

Originally I did try cutting against the rotation with the sharp end, but it snagged easily. Yeah, I think dragging or scraping with the sharp end would have worked, but the solid, sharp, and square edge of the side which is closer to the handle offered a lot of control and worked very well for me.
