OK, I’ve been seeing these for a while now. What’s a good one to get for someone starting out?

Great question. Here is my breakdown.

Cheap beginner friendly:

  • JJEDC “Joker”: comes in a bunch of colors, loud crunch, light weight, customizeable magnet setup, overal fun. Hyprid, PLA X Metal plate.

  • 3DX “X55”: A real favorite of mine. Can handle beginner and advance tricks well. Light weight, cool designs. Hybrid, Metal plate/3d printed.

  • 3DX “X3: He won the 2025 Fidget Sliding Competition using this slider. All 3d printed. Very customizable. This will be more incomparable in size and weight of what the pros use. Very thick compared to the other two.

$90-$160 range

  • Peacock “Aura Sands Slim PRO” - This is where I recommend every beginner start if they can afford it. Its light so you can practice for a long time. Tricks come easier on this then others.

  • Peacock “Aura Sands Pro” - Multiple championships have been won using this slider. Thicker and hevaier then the slim. This is widely seen as the best slider for tricks.

  • Y-Y EDC “Heart” - The winner of the 2024 fidget sliding competition designed this slider. Ultimate pro level slider. Super Smooth.

Buy something decent off of Amazon and give it a month and see if you have interest in them. They are fun, but they can also get stupid crazy expensive. If you look at the fidget forums, there are always tons for sale. They typically hold their value pretty well though!

Great advice. Just about everyone starts with the cheap amazon fidgets but with these sliders there are now some high performing ones that are all under $50. Might as well send the extra $20 for something that lasts and will be customizable. Plus you don’t risk buying a Chinese clone either.

wow i have never seen these before, but they look delightful! so it looks like there’s ones that click more for fidget and free floating ones more for tricks. is that right? or they all click?

You are totally correct. Outside of China Sliders are designed for tactical feedback and causal fidgeting pleasure. In China, I gentlemen about 7 years ago figured out if you change the magnets to 8x6 rather than the common 8x8 or 6x6 you can perform common slider tricks with much more flare and it allows for more tricks. Of course this lead to moving the magnets closer to the corner edges and all types of design upgrades of the last 2-3 years.

Personally, I find the trick sliding setup way more fun and smother than the 8x8. Not to mention the tactical feedback ones that are popular go for hundreds of dollars. The China ones are much cheaper and some argue better.

If you have any other questions let me know.

I’ve been looking at these since this topic popped up the other day and figured why not. If i like it, great. If not ill just use it as a normal fidget

Totally. The X55 is one of my favorite. Another good place for tutorials, Youtube “Breath through slider tutorials”. Start off slow and work your way faster.
