From what I see there hasn’t been a thread for this since 2013, so I thought it’d be cool to have an updated one.
With the thousands of models out there, of course there have been some really cool names. The yoyofriends quantum physics and avian themed ones come to mind. However, none of those are my favorite. That title undoubtedly belongs to the Galaxy Diver (which I shockingly don’t own but want to just because the name is so awesome).
Summit and Entangle are both excellent names, I mulled over this question for a bit and those are the “best” in my opinion.
I like how the Summit represents the apex of design knowledge between two major yoyo brands at the time, and it keeps with the more natural/outdoorsy theme of CLYW, while making sense for OD as well due to the Cascade and proximity to the mountain range.
Entangle is just really good as a name for a 3A focused signature yoyo, it’s a name that represents how it will be played in a literal sense.
Helianthus is my pick for favorite name that isn’t particularly indicative of the yoyo itself, and is simply just a name.
After typing all of that, it just hit me that I think Freehand has become an excellent name. Considering an entire style of yoyoing has adopted the name and it has endured to mean way more than just the yoyo model.
Bapezilla, YWET, Fluchs, Doombot, Dark Magic, SpinFaktor Series, Renegade, Element X, Wing Force, Chain Reactor, RollerSnake @yoyodoc, and Raider come to mind…
Edit: Now that I think about it, wasn’t it Jen Niles who named the RollerSnake?
