Fake Throws

I’m gonna sound like a mother here…

@UnluckyOwl53 Tbh there’s really no way of stopping people from buying and selling these fakes. Yes, it can mess up the market (if the buyer sells), and cause other buyers to get scammed (e.g. me, which is why I created this post, so other buyers/traders will have some way to make sure their trade is safe). For A-rt, they’re popular, that’s why there are ppl making fakes of their throws, if their new releases aren’t getting sold out, I highly doubt it’s because of fakes. For TP, they have a lot of fakes too, and their new stuff still get sold out like instantly.

Also, no comment to the ethical point of view of @krq buying fakes… but since he’s transparent… it would obviously be stupid of him to list this on bst. (Also I’m pretty sure YYE doesn’t allow fakes on bst)

Unless I’m selling a fake yoyo and not telling people it’s fake, there’s no problem. I’m buying it for myself

Imagine someone coming to Ali and buying that fake 420 just because they liked the look of it. By your words, they’re acting in bad faith now (Honestly I don’t care)

the problem is you advertising the abundance of colors being produced while subtlety showing where you can purchase this fake.

@krq could be a lucky case where he holds onto it but what are the odds tons more people see this thread and see their oppourtintuy to flood the market with fakes.

Im just going to leave it at here and maybe come back to this convo in a future date. Sorry

I didn’t post a link or name before you started accusing me. First, why I got 11 420s, then where I got the screenshots. You’re the one who came to this thread and started complaining. Don’t you think so?

Always open for suggestions on how to improve this thread!
As I said before, I’m happy to take it down

I would honestly be surprised if the availability of fakes like this had a noticeable impact on new A-RT releases. Keep in mind that fakes time to produce/make, and so without some serious lapses in logistics (or bad actors in the manufacturing process, which iirc A-RT uses onedrop for their ALs so highly unlikely) there probably won’t be fakes appearing at a time frame that coincides with the release. I would further this with the fact that basically every release of the grail A-RT has ever done has sold out pretty damn quick, while the fakes have been around for years.

Personally I think yoyo is a hobby that should be fun-forward and player-forward, and when you tell me that a specific yoyo I’m interested in is 5-6x (or more!) it’s retail cost because the company refuses to make more, it rubs me the wrong way. Like, there are legendary historical throws that I think everyone in yoyo should be able to try, such as 3rd run CLYW Peaks, old Anti-Yos, or some of the original A-RT releases like the Grail/420, but the secondary market pricing makes this impossible for many people. That being said I don’t think that wholeheartedly embracing counterfeits is the right solution to this problem, but the “yoyos are collectors items” mindset that prevents re-releases like these from happening is poisonous and opposes the fun in the hobby that I think people should focus on.

There’s probably a can of worms here I’m opening.
