We all smack the yo into ourselves with varying degrees of force from time to time, but how about others? My kids are always underfoot in whatever I’m trying to do, and have little respect for the ‘danger zone’. When the young fella was enthusiastic about throwing, and getting kinda confident, there was a blanket rule that if he ever collected his little brother, the yo would go, for the rest of the day. I myself have only had to put it away once, for a minor ding (no tears) but they test me daily. How about your fine selves? Kids, cats, dogs, partners, general public, windows, strangers cars…all applicable. Let’s hear the confessions of irresponsible throwing!

My boxer likes to check out what I’m doing sometimes and wants to join in but he has never been whacked yet. Last week my pug wasn’t paying attention and walked right into a breakaway at the perfect ( or imperfect ) time as it was and got whacked on the nose. Fortunately he already had a mashed in face but he yelled and ran in the other room for a minute. They have been watching me throw for years without incident up to that point.

If my cat hears a yoyo, he will get up from wherever, and come attack my legs with claws and teeth…
He’s a bit bossy, and I think jealous of the time I spend yoyoing.
Dinged him once. I felt bad, but it also seems inevitable. I try to be careful, but I pretty much have to push him out of the way for each throw lol.

Our 17 year old dimented cat has been a yo yo block lately. Just stands in front of my toes until he gets food or attention. Hit the in-laws’ TV soon after me and the wife got together. And had another one fly off the string and go over the shoulder of a guy that had it hit, could’ve and probably would’ve whooped me… Be mindful of string health and where you aim your around the world…

i threw a soft breakaway that one of my kittens took on the nose. he’s also gotten popped i think twice batting a responsive before i knew he was there and he got bonked when it responded. my daughter took my kill zone warnings to heart thankfully and will fully announce and wait til i bind if she needs to walk near me

It’s a fun game trying to get your forward pass as close to your wife as possible without hitting her. Has never happened in 17 years, actually, though it has grazed and walked across her. May be ready to rig one up with sandpaper and set some matches up…

Same here they don’t learn their lesson
If I have a forte, it’s an accurate forward pass… Been seriously wanting to try lighting matches. I’ll get on that and try to get footage of the results. Can already see myself fussing at them to keep their hands still.
No one and nothing is safe around me when I throw.
(I think the only person in our household to not get clipped with a yo-yo is my wife. She’s smart enough to stay away.)

My kids and I throw and our house isn’t very big, so there’s always an announcement whenever we are about to walk by a rail combo. Many close calls, but no injuries yet. Though the neck tricks from my kids are especially unpredictable…

My strike anywhere matches came… Either I’m missing something, or lighting matches with a yo yo is nearly impossible. Maybe my sandpaper is too course. When I’ve tried striking one taped to a handrail, there was either not enough friction to light, or I broke the head off the match. I can light one by touching it to the spinning yo yo, but I really have to jam it. Gonna watch others doing it again to get some hints and possibly try a finer grit…

I’m pretty sure “strike anywhere,” has more to do with their portability than ease of lighting.

Yes I’ve totally hit my kids, cats and dogs with a yoyo. All on accident. My middle daughter got a good goose egg by walking right up to my mid trick.
