you could try lightly burning it with a lighter, then sanding it. I have no idea how duct tape tape responds to flame, but hypothetically it sounds good… In fact I’ll test it for you.
You shouldn’t put duck tape under a flame, you aren’t even supposed to leave it exposed to sunlight for long periods of time, duct tape is easily ignited, I got burned really bad doing it, trust me its not worth it.
I didn’t know if it would make it contract into a harder (sandable) substance.

I am making duck tape Yoyo cases. My Yoyo keeps falling out of my pocket when I stand up, so I made some protective cases with opening and closing tops. ( all I used was a binder clip and duck tape)

No, they don’t shed unless they are threatened, then they will shed and spry pee. 
But they usually don’t there really nice. Oh and no I have not made duct tape cloths for them
My dogs have hair, not fur. And I have made them Ducttape booties(boots for dogs, not that other kind that is known as a rear) for rainy weather.
I use this ultra stong clear duct tape, and i plan to make lots of wallets , pop a yye sticker on them, and sell them $5 shipped! Well see how patient i am lol
