Do shutter bearings come dry?

I’m fairly sure most bigco yoyo bearings come very lightly lubed. I’d actually be interested to hear what @yyfben2.deactivated has to say on this?

should I just lube it?
whats the problem you’re having that makes you want to “just lube it”?
it is a little louder than when I got it yesterday.
I am not sure if that means I should lube or not?
just don’t add very much or you’ll have to clean it in acetone.

In a perfect world, everyone plays with tight slightly lubricanted bearings. Everyone understands break in periods. Everyone knows how to clean and maintain bearings. Then there is reality. SPEC bearings are spec’ed loose and dry. They are open to lint and crud but out of the box typically they spin loose and fast. This is now standard demanded fare and the limited complaints from this are dwarfed by the complaints when we include a tighter quieter bearing. Price is no more or less for us. It’s the market that dictates what we add. We would love to see a change too.
