Cracks on W1ld adrenaline. Anyone else have this happen?

So I have a W1ld adrenaline and I’ve noticed that the plastic part has started to get small cracks. It’s pretty mint meaning I haven’t damaged it at all and it still plays like a dream 10/10 smooth but these cracks have appeared and more and more seem to pop up. I will say I’ve had mine longer than most people as I got it at worlds pre release. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Thanks!

I’m not really surprised this happened. These gimmicky aluminum-plastic-steel tri-materials aren’t built to last long.

Fatigue cracks in the polymer from long-term compression?

Interestingly… To me anyway… Is that before I bought an adrenaline, I stared at that union between the parts and immediately thought to myself, ‘ That certainly looks like a potential stress fact, fracture situation’.

There is an old saying that the strongest part of a chain is the weakest link. In this particular residence and a couple other yo-yos are doing the same way you have these parts with the similar materials joined together twist together, pressed together glued together somehow they got them together

When plastic is pressed to metal, it’s either pressed to the inside or the outside of the plastic. Regardless, compressive, and or expansive forces are being exerted on the plastic. Because plastics have a very dissimilar molecular structure, as opposed to metals, it’s not unusual for the plastic to slowly or even quickly fail.

I can’t checked mine now, but when I get home, I will. I have no doubt if the cracks aren’t already there those Small stress fractures will eventually show up.

The good news, is even though they may look like crap, It would probably be a pretty long time before those cracks would eventually result in the failure of the structure.

If they press fit the rims like a regular bi-metal this will eventually happen

Same thing happened to mine as well.

Yea it makes total sense. I love this thing but I do think people should be warned about it especially when a lot of people buy expensive throws knowing that if they need to they can sell them or trade them. Wish I would have got the noradrenaline now😭

close enough, welcome back YoYoJam

I would have to agree with @yoyodoc’s point about the structure. While it may not look great, the plastic will likely not fail for many years (10+).

As a yoyo designer this is my biggest pet peeve, especially when integrating a PC material into a yoyo as it may potentially develop stress cracks over time.
