Counterweight??

I need a die counterweight to start playing 5a. But i do not know if i can take a regular die and just drill a hole through it?

Do you think that would work?

Yep.

You can use just about anything for a counterweight. A bouncy ball is another common one.

what he said except has to have a hole through it.

to get started in 5a before you have any counterweights, I suggest just tying something, ANYTHING, to the end of the yoyo string just for the sake of getting the feel of playing without a yoyo tied onto your finger. you could use a lego man, a ring, a key, a caribiner, anything. The point is not to actually use the counterwieght for 5a tricks, but to do the normal tricks you already do, only holding the string differently to get used to it. By the time you have the feel of it, you will probably have yourself a dice or bouncy ball or some duncan heads, and once you put them on the end of your string you will be all set to do windmills, 360s, and other 5a tricks.
good luck
