Open to all sorts of clear trades!

Aluminum was once more precious than gold and silver. In fact, Napoleon III, the first president of the French Republic, served only his most honored dinner guests with aluminum plates and cutlery. The rest of his guests were served on gold and silver, which were considered lesser than aluminum at the time.

Pretty sure they covered this on modern marvels. iirc, there weren’t proper (efficient) manufacturing methods to get isolated aluminum in large quantities. Due to the lack of supply, pure aluminum was thought to be more valuable because there was LESS of it around at the time than silver and gold.

Alas, aluminum processing improved, supply and demand happened, and now I can’t sell my aluminum yoyos for a fortune.

(Also, somebody stop this man, he got two free bumps because he chose to speak FACTS)

@BearingGoBRRR, and @stevejspins, don’t you go changing. Y’all are keeping these wheels moving! Speaking of wheels…alloys of aluminium are typically lighter for the same strength, provide better heat conduction, and often produce improved cosmetic appearance over steel wheels.

Aluminum offers unrivaled barrier properties and can block out moisture, bacteria, microorganisms, light, oxygen, and other gasses. For this reason, aluminum foil is used in the protective packaging of pharmaceuticals.
