No, the yoyo is not actually made of glass, it’s just glass infused plastic, to make the material more consistent and suitable for injection molding while keeping the dimensions and thicknesses more uniform. You can do some more research on the purpose of glass infusion on certain materials. (Wood, plastic, etc.)
Same idea as fiberglass although its not fiberglass.
For anyone even thinking of getting a yeti I’d recommend you do it! You won’t be sad period.
Im exchanging mine becuase of vibe. They said it should be somewhat smooth.
It’s funny… I’ve been thinking which I should get at this point in time. A Rally or a Yeti. They are both 58mm in diameter which I like on my Classic, but I like it on that because the Classic plays like it does for 10 bucks. I wasn’t planning on it, but instead of getting either I just bought a new Protostar. It just appealed a little more to me.
How bad is yours? Mine has a slight plastic vibe.
B grade PSG lol.
Like an electric razor on grinds. SUPER visible, vibier than any yoyo ive ever owned
Did you try tuning it?
My Yeti has a very tiny amount of vibe, but very good for a plastic yoyo. It has less vibe than some of my metals.
My yeti vibes fairly bad but its not so bad it messes up play but it is slightly annoying, but I still love my yeti.
Honestly, and I think I’ve said this before, but my Yeti is one of the smoothest, least vibe-y things I’ve thrown. It definitely outplays any other plastic I’ve ever thrown. I’m sitting here with a Protostar, a Northstar, a Onestar, a Surge, a Rally, and my Yeti. For the money the Onestar is hard to beat because it’s so darn inexpensive. The Rally feels closest to a metal, but the Yeti is the smoothest and by far the most fun to play. It’s just fun. It’s probably the most fun you can have for $40. It puts me in a mindset of just grooving and getting lost in the throw. It absolutely does.
Thanks, Chris, for this stroke of genius.
Yes. I have tried everything
Oh that sucks! But the good thing is you’re getting a new one. You’ll love it!!!
I would. I didn’t care for the play style.
Funny, my PSG’s are exceptionally smooth.
Lol. Mine isnt
Where is this transitional Yeti that was supposedly being put up on Ebay? I don’t see it and it’s way after Worlds.
So, I just received my Yeti, and so far, I’m digging it. It plays lighter than the weight suggests, but I wouldn’t call it a “fast” yoyo. Grinds are surprisingly good–much better than I expected. Mine came pretty smooth out of the box, with a very tiny plastic vibe that was only apparent on grinds, and even then, it did not affect performance. Not General Yo or Oxy smooth, but definitely a smooth yoyo. The material it’s made of has a very interesting feeling; it’s smooth to the touch, and grinds well for a plastic. The 2 sets of spacers is nice, giving you a bit of wiggle room with these spacers that have been known as problematic.
More trivial things:
The box art is awesome! This is some of Mr. Week’s best work yet. The Yeti decal is amazing.
Aghh just missed my chance to pick up a grey yeti on the CLYW store
same here, I wish they posted something one yye or said at worlds release about the vibe problem.
Again mine in smoother than I could have hoped for. Just sayin.
It’s a Glass I injected plastic. Basically Fiber glass like stuff.
$40-$55 is nothing. It plays like a metal feels like a metal and sounds like a metal when you tap it.
I don’t want a rally, I have heard of hub issues.
The rally is smooth, and plastic.
But can have hub issues.
The Yeti is glass injected plastic giving it a overall different feel and appearance.
It’s big, and can have some vibe.
And has YYF Spacers…
But comes with spares in case yours get messed up…
