What is the best/proper way to clean out the residual silicone from the screw-on plastic applicator tip that is used with a tube of flowable silicone?

I usually let it dry completely. Then, take a wooden brochette stick and use it to pry it off the applicator. It should come off in a single piece, leaving the applicator completely clean.

yep. Cleaning the silicon tube is easier when you let it dry first. It’ll dry through part of the nozzle so the tube itself shouldn’t dry out.
