Yes have a look please (sorry I had to, what are the odds?) Matador fingerspins/tricks are a lot of fun though!
Fingerspins circa 10-15 years ago. Started on hub spikes and transitioned to hubstacks and z stacks.
Amazing pieces omg, that Spyy Addiction looks amazing, I played it years ago and was an unbelievable player in its time!
Thank you sir! I remember getting the Addiction brand new and the box or maybe it was the shop’s note saying something along the lines of “this is a competition yoyo, requires a “bind” to return to the hand and is capable of long spin times.” Which looking back on today is funny because it’s an undersized organic lol, but in the 2000’s I guess it was as close to a comp throw as anything. Little outdated but still butter smooth and holds its own!
Here is an interesting g question(I think)>
For those that have CheatCodes.
What string do you use on your CheatCode?
The standard longstring. More power and more room to try stuff out
I put on an Alphaline that was already cut, and it seems perfect. I’ll probably switch to Sochi XL since I just got some, but so far it’s been good with the Alphaline.
In relation to the thread, I think this is a pretty good innovation, and even though it makes finger spins easier, you still have to have some skill to complete it (bind). Also, I think innovations that lower barriers to entry as well as enhance capabilities evolve the hobby. Arguably, this is the 2.0 version of an idea that’s been around for a while, but it is an advanced version (even says 2.0 on the rim😁).
As an example, I hadn’t played with a yoyo in years before picking up a Butterfly XT that my son got as a gift. My how times had changed! Now they have bearings and anyone can make a yoyo sleep for a long time. Point being, bearings were an innovation that made some things much easier, and that lead to people like me getting more interested and people like Vu and Pang to develop crazy new tricks. I’m all for it and can’t wait to try some more difficult spins.
No matter what your opinion on the yoyo is…
This is so Rad that someone (Mr. Pang) figured out a design for this to even exsist!
And Mr. Vu to support it and bring it to the wolrd.
Awesome Project Gentlemen!
I’m surprised to hear it isn’t as solid of a playing yoyo. I assumed everything Jeff Pang makes is top notch. Even if that’s the case, the fingerspin design is genius level. Someone else said above I think this yoyo will help immensely learning to do the bind parts and getting more comfortable with landing on your finger. I struggled awhile to be more soft and less erect when landing the yoyo when first learning. I imagine using the cheatcode should translate over to a normal yoyo much easier.
Everything about the material and finish is definitely top notch. It’s a beautiful piece and again it does what it’s meant to do very well. It just is only average outside of that.
I held off on this one until people started posting opinions on it. I was worried that the delrin in the center would throw off the stability of the yoyo. It definitely has it’s place from what I have seen. I am just very picky about what I add to my case now.
Well my Cheatcode was SUPPOSED to be here today!
Mines been chilling with customs for a week. I figure there’s a customs officer doing sick finger spins with it or something lol.
I would agree that the playability is average. It reminds me of my Shutter. It’s not a bad throw, and I like the shape and finish, but it just doesn’t spin as well. The strangest thing for me is that it tilts off axis on nearly every throw. I’m sure I’m to blame for the technique, but I only have one other throw that does this—Geedorah. Another beautiful and amazingly well-made throw, but it’s just missing stability.
All that negativity aside, I still love the shape, and it’s fun to play with. Fantastic build quality, and I love that the guys are thinking of growing the hobby. Might not be my first pickup, but I’m glad I have it, and I think it accomplishes what they set out to do.
They also are trying to come up with “new” or re alive some older tricks to make the design feel more relevant which is a good idea on there part. Built a mouse trap now got to make a better mouse lol.
Same here, paid import VAT Thursday… They must be having fun at customs especially since they’re not giving me a delivery date yet.
I took a red one just as experiment as I can do DNA but I was curious to try a yoyo with a new concept, played with it more or less 6 hours in total, I have to kind of agree with all your experiences, it is indeed a good yoyo a bit on the heavier side but I do love the shape and finishing.
I found it to be able to keep up with every combo and some horizontal play as well, far from a competition yoyo but it works well, as someone said “average” in playing, the fingerspin dimple is crazy fun and allow to really mess around with dna, trying behind the back, different jumps and mad stuff.
I didn’t detect any issue on stability, to me seems actually quite stable and with a good rotation time as well, the bearing is very good even if on the noisy side.
To be the first experiment of this kind I think it is a very good result honestly, probably a bit less oriented on advanced players but still a nice one to mess around with!
@yoyodoc about the string I liked the one that come with the yoyo but also a alphaline from zipline strings work very well, I think the standard gap allow you to use pretty much every string you prefer!
Just got mine:
It’s easier to fingerspin than my previous favorite for that trick the Shooting Star. But Shooting Star spins longer on my finger.
Is it just as good for finger spins as it is good for 1a tricks?
