could I use brake cleaner(for cars)to clean it then use mineral body oil for lubrication?
Ummm…
You can try, but it might mess up the bearing. Really, just stick to the preferred way of Mineral Spirits and Thin Lube.
Side Note, unless the bearing is obnoxously(how I love this word) loud there’s no real need to cleaning the bearing. Thin Lube alone will work just fine.
