What can it do? Probably everything except 2A, depending on the player of course.
My thoughts: I’m getting one soon, when they are back out in blue.
It kind of reminds me in shape as a hybrid beween a Protostar and a Code 1. One Drop took out the Side Effects system to reduce costs, which is not an issue for me. The size and weight are all right on as far as my preferences are concerned. Everyone I’ve heard talk about it seems to really like it too.
It seems like it would be a good addition to pretty much any collection.
I had one for about a month.
Think g5. It has sharpish edges. Looks really good. Really good for 1a, stood out for horizontal. I have heard they are amazing for 3a due to the price. It wasn’t good for 5a, so I was disappointed with that. It’s a good yoyo. One of my favorites.
This is by far, and I have stated it many times, my favorite throw to date. It plays solid with a great speed but what did surprise me is that with the weight you really can whip this thing around at fast speeds or just let it float from string to string. It is crazy smooth. The only difficulty is that it is one of the larger yoyos out there and because of that can make it difficult for getting all of the tight string tricks. I’m working on cold fusion right now and it is forcing me to open up more on the string where on my undersized throws I don’t have to as much, which can be a good thing for technique anyway.
I have put this thing throw its paces many times so if you have any specific questions let me know.
Somebody better get these in stock in blue SOON! I check the places I like to buy from and it just ain’t in stock… I may have to bite it and buy red or something. I’m trying to avoid black as much as possible. I often have to practice in low light conditions and my black RecRev Sharp is dangerous when it’s like that!
What I have been rocking a lot recently has been my Phenom, I just can’t put that down. But, I gotta get this Burnside!
I agree with others. Fast if you want it for its size and weight, but it plays well slower or moderate speed too. It can be sharp at times and the larger size was awkward to me on a throw at 1st, even though I’ve been liking full size throws lately. I ended up calling it a meaner and faster Avalanche that can still cruise just fine.
I found the grinding suffered for finger/hand/arm grinds compared to my blasted CLYW stuff, but thumb grinds are great even though the IRG is rather shallow and angled funny for my thumb to stay locked in, but with a bit of tilt and its an easy hit so a little better than CLYW there.
Also as mentioned, technical/picture tricks can take a little adjustment from a 52mm and under player! I found myself overplaying the Burnside at 1st thinking it needed more pull/power to go and that’s when you notice how quick it can actually move!
The Dragon string I’m using probably makes it faster too imho but I’m liking the whip power with them! Makes the Hidemasa Hook and such total cake. Suicide loops are great too. No boing/spring in the tension though if you’re partial to it, I find none at present, but I like it this way actually even though the string feels ‘dead’ so to speak.
