Breaking Norms: History of Envy

In fall 2006, HSPIN was first to ever show pictures of an H-profile yoyo. A yoyo, with clearly concave wing profiles, as opposed to the classical elliptic/convex design that had been used for decades. After three successful releases of ENVY series yoyos, we have produced another revolutionary design, the BEYOND ENVY. This design is exclusively influenced by ChrisK, who was also behind the design of the PYRO, Good&Evil and HandQuake series yoyos.

Spring 2006

I came up with the idea of creating an H-profile yoyo by trying to do something radically different, but useful. The wing shape of the ENVY yoyos followed a different path than other yoyos, and rather than remaining on an elliptic curve like most classic metal yoyos at the time, the first ENVY profile looked like two mirrored “S” shapes on top of eachother. With the very first ENVY prototype, there were undercut rims on the gap side.

Wow, that sucker looks awesome, sadly I will have to wait for a production run, I’m too strapped for cash :frowning: Love the design concept. Though, I fear some people might say that you stole the under cut on the gap side idea from the muffin top, but I disagree. Good job guys, I am really stoked.

Naw that undercut looks it’s own. this whole yoyo looks like it’s alone.

it remindes me of a round tie-fighter.

I’m gonna have to try one of these one way or another…
