The DV888 I played was the 2nd smoothest yo I’ve ever thrown, next to Alex Berenguel’s Peak.
These “Sharp” rims arn’t even sharp, I have never heard of anybody besides you complaining of them.
You can get a Replacement axle for a Dv888 aswell.
They do not actually, you just need to know how to do it right. You should only take the bearing off once or twice anyways for cleaning, so it isn’t a big factor.
The grooves on the P2 are way too big. I love the feel of grooves, but they’re just too big on the P2.
The binds on the P2 are too tight. I hate it when the binds are too tight, because it snags easily, and it feel like the yoyo is responsive in the middle of play.
Also, I seem to dissagree with some of your reasons.
The Dv888 plays just as smooth as the P2.
The corners on the Dv888 aren’t sharp at all in my hands.
The Dv888’s axle doesn’t strip easily for me, and its removable pretty easily for me.
The Bearing on the Dv888 isn’t very hard to take off for me, cabout as easy as the P2 for me.
I love peaks, but if you think they’re the smoothest throw you own I really need to play some of your peaks. (I have an Alex Peak) Peaks are great, but they’re not the smoothest out there.
Apparently you are a better yoyo’er than I and have never hit a yoyo on your knuckles.
I think I may have miscommunicated the issue here. The part that gets stripped on the Dv888 is not the threaded axle that runs through the yoyo, but rather the halves of the yoyo strip out.
I’m willing to bet I have taken off more bearings than you have and that’s not a knock on you, but rather I experiment with bearings a whole lot. I’m well aware of how to take a bearing off of a yoyo and I can assure you that the Dv888 has an inferior bearing seat. There’s absolutely no reason a bearing should be that hard to get off of the yoyo.
And thanks for showing your maturity with the last remark. sigh
Almost all of your reasons are preference except for the bearing on the Dv888 not being hard to take off and have nothing to do with which yoyo is made better. The only bearings that aren’t incredibly difficult to get off of YYF yoyos are YYF SPEC bearings which seem to have a slightly larger inner diameter. I own I don’t know how many different kinds of bearings (a lot, I love bearings) and I can pull every single one of them off of a P2 with two fingers.
You’re still arguing opinions and supporting them with more opinions (which doesn’t magically turn them into facts). That may fly in la la land, but not around here. I’m glad you enjoy your P2, but why start this big of an argument over it?
I don’t think the Dv888 is that “sharp” either. Hitting your knuckles with solid aluminum hurts period.
In the long run, you’re right.
Can you get the bearing out? Yes? I’m proud of you! You did something you think is too difficult! Is the bearing any the worse for it? No? Didn’t think so.
They get what you are saying. They just disagree.
All you needed to do was suggest the P2 without bashing other people’s opinions and everyone would have been cool with it.
The YYF Dv888 and the 1Drop P2 are both great yo-yos, but if it was my $100 I would buy a Dark Magic and some accessories to get me started (like string, lube, etc.)
I don’t get why you need to discuss the Dv888 and P2 when there are tons of other yoyos out there. The Dv888 and P2 are minor puppets looking at all the yoyos you can get. Why stick to two yoyos that have a similar shape when there’s a ton of other yoyos out there. If you want something flat-rimmed, be a cowboy and get a Pistolero. Then you will actually get some cool features that don’t include a nut or a tight bearing seat.
I say don’t care about the P2 and Dv888. Get something else. Get an Eneme, get a Pistolero, get a Bully, get a Wedgie, get a Skyy chaser, get a Severe.
And I think saying that One Drop fanboys won’t change their minds is a bit funny considering that YYF fanboys aren’t really going to change their mind either.
@JonasK - I recommended the P2 because it was my favorite throw. Not because everyone else recommended Dv888. I agree though, there are some great throws out there. I really liked the Bully, but not so much the wedgie. Skyy chaser is nice, but I don’t know if I would want it to be one of my only throws just because I’m not a fan of the shape. The eneme I played pre-pro and didn’t care for. But yes, lots of yoyos out there.
The fact that you can strip out the hex nut on a P2 and then replace the hex nuts and still have a functioning yoyo is not opinion. The Dv888 requires tools or the “string trick” to get the bearing off and the P2 does not. Also not opinion. Aluminum on knuckles does hurt, but other throws haven’t caused any bleeding for me like a Dv888. The corners are sharper is fact, whether or not its too sharp is opinion. Also, squeezing a bearing hard enough to make the shields pop off is not good for it.
And as far as starting an argument over the P2, I’d like to think that this was a debate on what is a better yoyo, no one was calling anyone names except for Evan calling me “not smart.” Just chatting about which yoyo was better. I didn’t “bash” anyones opinions. I started a debate.
Thanks for the props on bearing removal it has really helped me out today. I was thinking that no one over here liked me
I’m not a “One Drop fanboy”. The P2 is my favorite throw and I’ll admit that, but I own just as many SPYY yoyos as One Drop and I own even more CLYW yoyos. I own one M1 just to have, but I don’t really care for it as a yoyo. I will also admit that I dislike how many yoyos YYF releases. I think they make some great yoyos, but I’d rather them focus their efforts on making a few yoyos really great rather than a couple of really great ones and many mediocre ones, but that’s another debate entirely.
Anyway, this will be my last post in the thread, I’m headed back to la la land.
@ the OP. You’ll be happy with a Dv888 or a P2 or a DM or most any of the other throws on the market. IMO though, snag a P2 and drop 30 bucks on some strings or a Terrapin X Ceramic Bearing (best bearing I’ve ever played).
