Best case for YYF 888s?

I’ve been building up a collection of YYF 888s and I’m looking for a good case to keep them all together. Ideally, I’d like something that holds around 40 yo-yos. I recently bought a case, but the slots ended up being too large for the 888s. Does anyone have any recommendations for a case that would fit them well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have also run into this with mine as well, I usually just put them in sideways. You could also try cutting up pieces of scrap foam to wedge them in

This might be a job for buying grey/black foam and cutting custom holes for an existing case.

some people cut their foam inserts using cut soup cans, you could use tomato paste cans if you were to go the diy route

The tomato paste can method also results in holes too large, as a heads up. I can go double check hang on

Edit: yes I remembered correctly, holes are still too large

Thanks for the advice guys. Going to go buy some foam tomorrow and try it out.

The star shaped holes in the Recess bag fit them, but I’ve never seen another case with this

Another thought: pick a part foam for pelican cases

Star shaped holes used to be super common in cases; they work great and you can use a cookie cutter.

I tried a cookie cutter and it DID NOT WORK, I believe these are die-cut.cookie cutters are too dull and too thin

I tried literally every way I could think to use a cookie cutter including using a vice as a press, hitting the cutter with a hammer, standing on the cutter, it just doesn’t work without something below it that is also the same shape but a little larger diameter so you can press it all the way through and cut it like how scissor arms work together.

The tomato can works because it is a sharp edge that you can rotate. Soda cans are too large and too weak, they do not work, even the mini guys

Hole saw grabs the foam running forwards or backwards, do not attempt. Also makes an ungodly mess.

I’ve done it many times before. The old-school method was basically using the star cookie cutter to score/compress the outline, then following it with an X-Acto knife or utility blade. Some people would sharpen the edge of the cutter too. You’re definitely not just pressing a normal cookie cutter straight through case foam like a cookie lol. Takes a bit of time but works great.

at that point you’d prob be better off just buying one wouldn’t you? you can get electric foam cutters for under $20

I just use random cheap cases from Amazon and they fit fine.

All my 888s are in an 28 yoyo FOV case. But if you are going to go the foam cutting route. I use a 1.5" hole saw drill bit. You remove the centering little drill bit, dip the hole saw bit into soapy water and run the drill on reverse. Works best for undersized yoyos.

@pyrotechnic Does the FOV case fit the 888s perfectly or will it require some modification? And by FOV, are you referring to the one on the G2 website?

Yes the G2 case no modifications. Have noticed the FOV max the holes are slightly bigger
