Behind the arm eli-hop

I saw this done recently by a lot of players at Worlds 2011. Can anyone explain how to do this … I guess it’s an eli hop beyond your arm rather than in front?
You can see Takeshi do it in his 2011 5A FS at about 2:15-2:16

I love eli hops and really want to learn this. Thanks for the help!

Fixed.

You just do an eli hop. behind your arm. it’s that simple.

Just that simple? I can’t seem to do it because of the reversed positioning of my finger when holding the trapeze before hopping.

Using my words, I would say to land a trapeze with no twists, with your index finger curved in.
Then for the actual “hop”, bring your non-throw hand to your throw hand and vice versa. Try it. You might hit your elbow at first, but you’ll learn to move it out of the way.

It’s not that easy. I’m still working on it. the yoyo hits my knuckle all the time

I think it’s just difficult since I have difficulty doing the eli hop with my finger reversed, doing it on the other side of my arm is even harder

Simple and easy are NOT synonyms. suicide=simple. suicide=hard.

Like seasick, crazy simple, but CRAZY hard. I nor tyler severence, nor many many peoplecan not get the motion.

lol, i still cant do seasick XD

You use your thumb, not your finger.
You pivot the yoyo around your pointer and land it on your thumb facing inwards. You hop off your thumb.
Don’t listen to CarlG. He wont help

Don’t listen to koenigseggfire. He Wont help.

Actually I do mine with my index finger curled in while doing a trapeze.

actually you do a gorilla trapeze (index point toward you, not point out)
