"BC" Official Mods and Paint Thread. UPDATED 3/8/13 PGM restore and strip!

It was just a bottle of spray paint and a clear coat of spray paint.
I did this on some others because I wanted to paint more :).

I’m actually using Gum Spirits, will that eat the plastic? It is paint thinner. I used it on my one and it didn’t do anything, but I didn’t soak the ONE I just got a paper towel and touched it while spinning on a drill.

No, that probably won’t affect the plastic. Don’t know that I’d leave it soak though.

Well how am I going to get off?

I’m getting good

How did you get it this far?

Sandpaper and a sandpaper block. But for some reason i cant get more off. And if i keep using sandpaper i might scrape to much of the plastic off. Its nice and smooth now. And i cant get inside where the hubstacks go.

Then maybe some mineral spirits and fine steel wool, or a green 3M scrubby would work. In that application there’s little danger of the mineral spirits affecting the plastic a lot. I just wouldn’t soak it in it.

No one listens to me anymore :stuck_out_tongue: Use Germ-X or Purel hand sanitizer, the alcohol concentration in both will remove the acrylic paint without damaging the plastic.

Soak it or rub it on.

You are correct if it’s acrylic. It didn’t sound like it was from his description, but worth a try.

Ill go check my paint.

These are them, the black and the clear coat. I can get better pictures :).

Yea, hand sanitizer won’t work against those, best bet is acetone, but that stuff will eat your plastic like it’s a strip of bacon.

Don’t ask. rubs neck

Then what’s the point if telling me that? :stuck_out_tongue:

Going to try the PGM by hand :/.

So far so good.

That’s pretty far from “good.”

And you like to critique people? l0l

Yeah that’s what I meant…

No offense…but I personally am wondering, how is the PGM rims “super smooth” if you used 220 sandpaper?
