"BC" Official Mods and Paint Thread. UPDATED 3/8/13 PGM restore and strip!

What do you think??? Pleases say!

Feedback? Look good? TELL ME! I want to know

Not the best but once their cleaned up they’ll look better.

;). The marble looks good! But will look better when cleaned up :).

FYI it doesn’t get cleaned up. Swirl is swirl. Please feel free to try one.

I will :).

I’ve tried, it’s a huge pain. It’s hard to get the colors nice and not completely mixed without using a very thick coat. I should start painting yoyos again…

YES YOU SHOULD!!

I swirl paint yoyos the same way people swirl paint guitars.

Use the drip method if you can to start. Spray some of your paint into little Dixie cups then drop onto the piece with a brush. Let it run around as you rotate it and allow to dry.

Yoyoavenger may be referring to the dip method. Paint on top of the water then dunk and spin a bit on the way out.

I really like the Grind Machine.
The other ones are alright.
Keep painting yoyos. They look good.

That GM is absolutely amazing!

First homemade string coming today! Pics later!

It is super thick. My fault. I will try less next time. It has kinks and other little things in it. It is fun and does whips great because it is a little thicker=heavier. ANY TIPS PLEASE FELL FREE! The green string in the background is YYE string.

Use less thread as to make the string thinner, keep the thread under greater tension to prevent kinks, and twist the thread tighter.

Thanks! I realised I used to much thread. I rapped it around the hooks 10 times. The hooks were 10 feet apart. It also snapped off the drill. I am going to try again today :).

Today was a big day for modding and string making. I didn’t do anything super amazing, but I had fun and these look good :). For starters: my PGM. Once you read that line you are probably super curious what I did to the amazing Snowy PGM. Well here it is:

It is NOT done, you guys can guess or suggest what I do next or not do at all :). All I did was use a sand paper block and some 220 grit sand paper. The rims are super smooth! I have to do something to the hubs (where the nut is) because I ordered a replacement Hubstack Post (reason for no stacks) and the extra texture of the paint might be to high off the yoyo hub and touch the stacks and causing little if not any spin time on the stacks. Aw darn I told you, o well :).

I also made some new and improved string! The light green is YYE string, all the others are mine. The red is though and hurts because I didn’t figure out the tightening technique until after I made my best one (purple). The purple is awesome for suicides. And whips and slacks. Holds tension really well. I did make it a little to long :o my fault.

PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK OR POST! I love to open this thread and see post like “PGM looks amazing” ect.)

CREDIT: Jake Elliot, without him I wouldn’t have made those strings  THANKS JAKE!

Also thanks to: YouTube and my brother :). My drill my hooks my thread! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks to Yoyoexpertman54 for the wonderful stand I use to put my yoyo on for pictures. ;D.

GM phase 2. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag2/Bcmaddog/8F9A9520-27F5-40B2-A7BD-5803E3C3DCA2-8344-00000557C4ABB842_zpsac2b131f.jpghttp://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag2/Bcmaddog/3DDF7A37-144D-497D-874D-CEEF971ECAC3-8344-00000557BFB8DB55_zpsd57896ca.jpg

Going to put these in some mineral spirits. Strip all the paint, add fresh silicone, and clean the spacers and bearing seat. Ect. Since I used sandpaper to strip what is gone currently, it smoothed it out. So I sanded it smoothed it and stripped some of it all at the same time :).

Grind Machine Restore Phase 2!

What kind of paint is it? Mineral spirits may not work. Then again any other solvent will probably eat the plastic.

If it’s just acrylic paint, use germ-x hand sanitizer, I’m not joking, removes the paint without damaging the plastic.
