Battery replacement for Spintastics Torch?

Hi all,

I have a Spintastics Torch from the ‘90s that I got when someone did a show at our local library. It became my favorite yo-yo and I replaced the wood axle with metal bearings along the way. I just pulled it out of storage decades later and am hoping to revive its internal LEDs (ideally just a matter of replacing the batteries). But how do I get to the batteries without breaking anything?

I thought about pushing outward through the axle-hole, but that only works on the half that doesn’t have the axle attached. Plus I’m worried about cracking the plastic covers, given their age.

Any advice or knowledge is appreciated.

You may want to try a suction cup to remove the sidecap. Look them up on the Walmart site.
